Can you explain the ideas behind this card? Without any context having any sort of 'protection from creatures' in black instead of white seems very weird - regardless of the specific limitations.
The limitations seem unclear as well - it reads out like a reference to something. At first I thought it might be "nonartifact, nonblack" as a nod to Terror but with nonenchantment I don't know that that is about.
The name being rather generic doesn't shed light on any of this either.
It's a nod to "Destroy target nonartifact, nonechantment creature." (from a custom card that I apparently never put up on this site) which is itself a nod to Terror.
There once was a custom set that explored the relationship of colors and card types that noted black as a major color to care about creatures positively and negatively.
This is a meditation on how protection in every color might look like once you remove the subset of "protection from color". I consider "protection from creatures" a valid choice in black, but added the twice-removed Terror twist.
To consider: This is more likely for a set that uses enchantment creatures more commonly.
As a Wraith this has an evasion ability (B in DEBT).
As a Noble this is superior/aloof to other creatures.
Any idea as to whether that 'card type to color' custom set still exist on the web somewhere?
It sounds somewhat similar to "Another Color Wheel" by Guesswork back in 2013 which you might recall as you were there. I think it had a continuation post where there was a Volcanic Dragon colorshifted into green but I can't seem to find it.
That's not the set. I am fairly certain MTG Salvation is the correct place to look for it, or at least where I encountered it. Ever since a big chunk of the content there got deleted I have very little motivation searching there for anything that might not be there any longer.
It was made by a user who made multiple sets IIRC popping up every now and then with really complete ideas. They had their own website collecting their sets, too...
Pretty certain it's pre-2009 though. Also it was not advertised as a new take on colors. Colors caring about card types was just the mechanical identity of the set.
Only signed-in users are permitted to comment on this cardset.
