I made something similar a while back - Touch of Pandemonium - decided at some point to have it give +X/-X instead of just -X/-X.
Fixed typo in rules text
Absorb in black just seems very weird. I don't think black has much of anything in its mechanical pie that would work as a precedent or jumping point for this.
