Yea I'm cool with this being replaced with an equipment, as we have no common equipment.
Well this does serve the white and green +1/+1 counter theme. So I'd rather replace it with a non-vigilance creature that gives +1/+1 counters.
Wouldn't searching for a land with diff name make more sense, given Discovery's existence? Basic land just seems limiting as a Discovery enabler.
Just a quick notes on reprints we're currently doing;
Suppression Bonds: Deals with creatures and the enchantments we have. Seems to fit quite well.
Regress: Has a lot of flexibility, especially when lands and enchantments are concerned.
Divination: This one feels the most bland to me, maybe it helps the
control decks but if we're going to cut a card because we're reprinting too many cards then this would be where I'd start.
Asphyxiate: I see this as being one of the most fitting reprints we currently have.
Flavour point; Doesnt feel like a conjurer would transform when it deals damage.
This should be replaced with something else, probably equipment. Doesnt have to be splashy just decent.
Dont think we need that much more land destruction in the set, we want people to be able to interact with other players discovery, not let them just destroy all their lands. Rather replace this with a positive enchantment.
Could easily be replaced with another similar effect. Almost just here to fill space at this point, although it does help the
archetype
Changed to secrets suggestion
Changed into a vanilla creature, as the previous version was lacklustre and we were missing a vanilla in white. Decreased power so it wasnt just a better Silent Artisan
Parvia Guardian is currently an unbound 'vanilla'. I'd like to have this be replaced with something else though.
This doesnt really feel that exciting, could be replaced with something else?
I think I'd rather just go big on this, Spark of Passion does the 1 damage thing in red. Maybe make the other option cost more, still do 5 damage but be able to target creatures or players? Think that does make the card a bit confusing though so it might increase the rarity.
Made into
cycler
swapped cycling cost with mana cost.
Think we should do what you said and change it into the black single cycling card
cycling > basic landcycling
Skyborn Djinn has been brought up a decent number of times as possibly being pretty strong. Having an answer to that plus a few other cards (Heatproof Hawk, Windcaller Sprite) at common make it seem ok to me. Decent sideboard card against fliers in limited.
Simple fix is to just make it tap to use its ability. That way you cant just use it as a 6 mana repeatable bounce spell each turn.
Im pretty sure blink effects like this are simple. This card can re use etb triggers, let creatures come in tapped to trigger untap effects and reset DFCs. Dont really think that aside from that cards like this need too many reasons to exist in a set. We seem to have a above average amount of removal atm, which this card does well against too.
Not exactly a finished theme but a proposed one. Just because it isnt in the skeleton doesnt necessarily mean that its not something we're not considering doing. We touched on not having too much graveyard interaction in the set, and trying to do it in a different way if we did. Just to try and make the set feel more positive overall. Thats just a flavour thing though.
As much as I dont want to reprint much more, this slot is probably for a reprint like Farseek, Rampant Growth, Harrow. Just a simple mana ramp spell. This card can probably be changed to uncommon. I know we have a few other reprints in the skeleton but after looking back over it we can cut a few if needed.
I'd rather cut this for something else, I especially dont like the random extra mana tacked on.
Well, none of them is a card in the skeleton. That's my point. If there is no card even competing for a slot, then there is no theme.
That's not true, you might not have checked exhaustively enough. There are at least a couple cards that use a bottom of library theme. Just not at common, or not on commons that are in the skeleton anymore at least. But they're there. And it's listed as a W/B archetype.
See: Swarm's Hunger, Hatcher Maggot, Card73451, Card73683, Each Drop. Some of these are commons that are no longer in the skeleton, but not all.
You don't have such a theme. I checked. This would be the first black card to support it. There isn't even scry in black right now.
I wonder if this could actually do "bottom of library" instead? We have a minor "bottom of library" theme in black.

It is pretty darn wordy.
We need a common green card of some sort that functions as a Discovery enabler, which is what this slot has been in both forms. Is there a less wordy way to do this? Maybe something simpler that leaves out the card draw part, or even that just searches your library for a land with a diff name and ETB tapped?
Probably too wordy for common.
