art. nicely blue-black, as a pleasant bonus
Signpost gold uncommon for the (Blue-black archetype). The Gareth appears quite late in the series, but it is a mass-produced mech that can fly.
1R 2/2 -> 2R 3/2
I was trying to design a rare Raid card, but missed and ended up with an uncommon. Which is fine as I have more uncommon slots than rare/mythic in the skeleton anyway. This is a variant of Furious Rise with Raid. Should this cost 3 or 4? Is the condition "attack" easier to meet than "have a creature with power 4"? They seem fairly comparable to me.
Oh, good point about sorcery/instant. I'm fine with not bothering about regeneration/indestructible though.
Self-Destruct
Sorcery
Target player sacrifices target artifact they control with a converted mana cost X. Self-Destruct deals X damage to that player.
(Detonate is a sorcery, not an instant.)
I mentioned over on Mecha that artifacts destruction in this set probably wants to be such that it can blow up small things but not so easily big things. I have Detonate as an example. Well, the series certainly has plenty of detonations, so for now this might as well just be a reprint.
Oh... Blah, I'd forgotten Detonate had the "can't be regenerated" wording. I've been taking regenerate out of this set, so I should replace this with a version that doesn't have those words. Pity.
Intended for the (Blue-black archetype), but the (Black-green archetype) probably loves this as a source of tokens to sac. And it would suit BR or BW decks that end up with some of the go-wide rewards from the (Red-white archetype) too.
Deactivated and remove from skeleton
I think I prefer Brutal Assault for this slot. Also the name Assassin's Strike is taken, though I could be forgiven for forgetting that card.
For the "big creature kill" slot, a slight variant on Eviscerate. I like that it's often fine to use this in first main phase to make your attack safe, but comes with a bonus if you can arrange to save it to second main phase.
For the (Red-green archetype), but goes pretty well in the (Black-green archetype). A tweak on Nature's Spiral, with a slight restriction to make up for the powerful revolt bonus. Could be instant or sorcery.
