Added "attached to target land" as part of transformation.
Added "attached to target land" as part of transformation.
Originally, this card did cost 2 as it was created as another card. However, we saw that Wizards themselves just came out with Ash Barrens! You're right, it does feel pushed at 1 mana. Surprised Wizards made it.
It isn't a major theme I would say.
For your first point, I think the card would be improved by changing the transform condition to when the creature dies. Then, like a number of other cards we have, it would make sense as sort of continuation of the essence of the creature.
You're right, we've left out the proper text to attach on these DFC auras.
This is okay in a Constructed format that also features Sol Ring, but on a common in a Limited playable set Basic landcycling should not cost less than
.
I definitely don't like this one because of how weak it is as a 3 mana counterspell that also relies on Discovery.
I think that's a fair point. We could do an equipment or something else in this slot. Nothing in the skeleton here is absolutely final, it's just what we have at the moment.
Hmm you have a point there.
The +1/+1 counters is continueing a theme we have with some other cards where +1/+1 counters is the method, and because of the W/G +1/+1 counters archetype. And the whole point is to make the land a creature, not to buff a land that already is one.
I have had some uncertainty about this card. It actually isn't that effective at what it tries to do until later in the game, which is weird, while on the other hand it has the potential for mass ramp. The alternative definitely is probably better.
Is lifegain a major theme in black? Otherwise this does seem strange at common.
1st: Would you usually want to turn your creature into an Aura that begs to be 2-for-1'ed?
2nd: Needs text to attach it to something after transforming or it will immediately die.
Reminiscent of the uncommon Evasive Action
Arcane Anticipation could be a simple replacement without relying on discovery.
Revolutionary Rebuff existed without its sibling too long!
Alternatively this could just prevent damage as white is known to do.
Emori Mystic and this should probably not be in the same set.
This set has a lot of mana production in its artifact section - considering the ramp and land searching themes one would expect the opposite. No cool common equipment instead?
This still needs a clause on the front side to actually attach it to the land it is supposed to enchant.
Why the use of +1/+1 counters if the Aura simply could have "enchanted land gets +3/+3 (as long as it is a creature)"?
Removed inconsistent "You may use this ability only if your discovery is three or greater."-wording. All conditions in a replacement effect belong into the same spot.
As a common this should neither give this much card advantage nor ramp that heavily and is quite wordy.
In a modern set you probably could get away with putting up to two land cards into your hand, but not with common Exploding Vegetation.
The big design failure of this card is that the ramp spells should enable discovery - not depend on it. Compare: Expanding Border
Discovery-compensated ramp spell.
The original intent for this is to be able to ping with the insect, but since this needs to target both fighting creatures and targets are chosen before the card resolves the token can't be chosen.
Better: Make a creature that makes the fight happen as an ETB triggered ability.
Typecycling counts as cycling but does not result in card draw. The card should be worded to work with any kind of cycling e. g. basic landcycling.
This doesn't need to be and really shouldn't be a replacement effect.
Ooh, good point about Auras - this probably needs to say "target non-Aura enchantment", otherwise it'll immediately fall off then immediately die from SBAs.
"Becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature" is fine, actually - Start Your Engines works on already animated Vehicles, and Lifespark Spellbomb works on already animated lands.
Reminds me of Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar, which did basically the same thing to all your card draws rather than just cycling draws.
Yes, this will return as the creature.
Well I made the forum post, only posted the white commons so far because it'd a bit of a slow process, but I should finish up posting the rest over the next few days.
It effectively would be competing for the same slot as the other enchantment reanimator, yea.
Seems similar to the enchantment reanimator spell we already have. The enchant enchantment thing does sound a bit weird but it could be done. Or this could just be a sorcery that turns a nonaura enchantment into a creature. Have to word it so it takes enchantment creatures into account though, 'If its not a creature it becomes a 0/0 Elemental.' kind of thing.
I don't think this side is too bad, but I'd say one or the other. Being
does have different decisions about whether to cycle or not.
As far as I'm aware, when a DFC enters the battlefield it always enters as its front side, like Startled Awake when it returns to its owners hand. So when it returns to the battlefield it'll come back as the creature.
