Wording correction 'When->Whenever'
Corrected wording for sorcery speed limitation- source ( http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[this]+[ability]+[only]+[sorcery]+[activate] )
Is lifegain a major theme in black? Otherwise this does seem strange at common.
It isn't a major theme I would say.
There are a few cards in black that have lifegain, but you're right it isnt a major theme. Tempted to change this to something similar that works without needing other cards.
Legend thinks this is too powerful at common as well.
I dont see this being too powerful at common on the front side, but im going to change it for now.
Changed to trigger when a creature you control dies on the front side, changed to drain when a creature dies on the backside
Global enchantments at common are always problematic. Have you considered Auras turning into creatures instead for these slots?
Name of the back lends itself to creature type Leech.
