A cycling based card expanding on the little "top three cards of library" theme blue has going. Another more powerful route would just be "Scry 3, then draw a card".
Took off flying, made it uncommon.
The last line on the 2nd side probably should say "you may", unless if you have no creatures it will enchant your opponent's creature. Or perhaps you meant for it to return to the battlefield transformed?
Playing with the enchantment theme in conjunction with +1/+1 counters. I was thinking maybe this should be an enchantment aura itself, but "enchant enchantment" is weird to me and it would make the wording more complex.
Wonder if this idea might be better as a
enchantment?
Thinking about it, it might be a little too fragile. As an enchantment it would be slightly less easy to remove. But I'm starting to wonder if it really should be a rare. As an enchantment with a slightly higher mana cost it could be an uncommon.
Changed from returning to your hand to returning to the battlefield, as this felt a little weak to me.
I'm likewise keen to move on with design. And playtesting.
If no one else says anything about it in the next day or so I'll go ahead and do it, though formatting for that kind of post will be a first for me. I doubt it's all that hard though.
Im keen to move on with design so, unless you'd rather have someone else do it, go ahead and post the commons on the forum. That's if its ok with everyone else?
I agree with you on that. I am tempted to just make the next forum post myself, but I wanted consensus from you guys first. I think the ideas we have going here are too good to let the project stagnate.
I think its fine as it is, I dont see it being on the same power level as Bitterblossom because on its own its just a 1/1 with flying. Might actaully be a bit fragile but wouldn't want to change it much.
No no, I understand where you're coming from. Sometimes my ideas come in larger chunks rather than a steady stream. And I just feel like if we just sit around doing nothing waiting for Voxzorz or someone else to post the commons of the forum that the set will start to stagnate.
This is supposed to provide for a role somewhat similar to Bitterblossom, except based on cycling. I figure since you have to work for it through cycling rather than it being automatic during your upkeep and it's on a vulnerable stick, it's not necessarily OP in comparison. If it is considered OP I'd just tag on a "lose 1 life" I suppose.
DJK's idea is more directed towards opponents.
In both cases, one concern is that the idea here is narrow in that it's only anti-unbound. In most cases it would be useless outside the set, and within the set it mostly only applies to unbound creatures.
We could do a rare idea along the lines of "Creatures don't untap during their controller's untap step unless that player pays 1/2 life" might be doable as
enchantment. It also would be exploitable if you do use Unbound, as it matters a bit less.
The idea of untap step based stuff is an area we could experiment with in its interaction with unbound. As well as more
ability type stuff.
Yea, I don't mean to come off as hostile or dismissive, some of these ideas I like, some of them fill a space that is needed, and some kind of finish a defacto cycle that's been created.
I just feel like we've been flooding it here with rares and uncommons a lot when we still need to playtest the commons. And I've felt a little bit like if I don't keep up by posting cards, you're going to end up designing 75% of them. :P
Honestly I'm just putting in some of the stuff I though we where missing from the seperate colors. If you want to add your own ideas, go ahead by all means. Im not expecting everything I submit to get used, and since each card works on its own in a vaccum and isnt part of a cycle I have no problem with them being cut. I feel like its far better to have more cards than we need than not enough, in normal design they make large batches of cards initially and then cut them down to the few they need for the set. That way you get to see what different things you can do.
I don't find this very interesting, honestly. It feels like a bland hate card. I'd rather have something more general.
I'd prefer something like "Permanents your opponent control can't untap outside of their controller's untap step unless their controller pays 1 life".
I'd change to "you may transform".
There are going to be a lot of competing and excess cards at the rate that you're posting them. I understand that we're going to have some of that, but I must honestly say I feel a little bit like you're practically monopolizing the design space for the rest of the set by yourself when you post 20+ cards at a time and more cycles.
