Added a colorless and increased toughness to 5, so that it doesn't compete with Overflood.
Crud. I'm certain I did my take on black. In fact I know that we argued about a lot of cards, but for some reason a lot of that is missing in Black Commons Submissions. I made a post there to address that.
I agree that sacrifice has been overdone, and, to a lesser extent, so hasn't 'when a creature goes to the graveyard'. It makes sense for that to be a part of the flavor of what we're doing, but not 'the' major mechanic. I like the flavor of subjugation over extermination... the fact that the Gorgons have no intent of sacrificing valuable slaves would help to separate us from other sets. We'll probably need to work backwards and rehit this colors commons after we make the uncommons.
Ug. I don't know what happened here, but it looks like we lost our conversation and my submission links. I checked around, and it seems my submissions are still here, so no big deal. But, as Jack mentions in Mono Black, black is already a bit messy with exactly what we're doing with it.
If anyone does happen to pick up Black's mantle besides me, don't forget that I have about 14 cards to add to this. Search Community set for Black Commons.. that should do it mostly. Also search for Fortifications, since that's tied to black's mechanics. Black's going to be tricky even without all of this, since we haven't established if and how many fortifications would appear, and would they appear in black, colorless or a mix.
I like the mini-sun in green. I also wonder if the small sun was put there by Aer as a control mechanism. Put a small sun on your plane, and claim that it is a god, and that certain things make it angry or happy. If that's the case, than Aer has better roots (heh) in green, and might use that color as a sort of limited enforcer. Though, whatever is denying power to Aer and causing it to sink would certainly be draining power from this sun as well. The residents of this mini-plane might be going crazy because they don't know how to make their deity happy anymore.
On the subject of fungi and the +1/+1 counters - what I really liked about the mechanic was how it messed with player's normal perception of how to play magic. Since you were throwing the counters on everything, suddenly green became a thinking man's color. It wasn't just 'Hulk Smash!' all over again. I like that. I don't know how many other players like that, though. There's a very big 'Hulk Smash!' crowd out there, who would rather we didn't play games with their color.
This is kind of cool, now that I think of it. I don't know if you can get a Cancel for

, but I'll leave that for other people to wonder.
Hmm. I wonder what the mechanic of "I used to fly" is? Maybe it's extra spiteful to flying creatures? Maybe it flys in its dreams? "If Starving Harpy flies, it dies". I don't know.
Sounds like a plan. It would be very easy to implement later, anyhow. I think I do like this better as "a tool that development can use if things are out of hand".
Sounds good to me. Also, that's pretty much the plan, Alex... get the common selections in the skeleton, then move to get people to make uncommons after we see how the skeleton hangs. I'd say something about having to make some filler cards if a hole represents itself, but I'd find it hard to imagine there being a hole, really... If it does exist, attempt to be as straightforward and unimaginative as possible. :) After all, we'd only be filling the hole so that we can move on to the next stage... it's not a guarantee that it would stick.
I'm fine with white. I just don't want to end up with green.
I'd can't decide which colour I prefer (some of them I like a lot, some of them I think have untapped potential :)) so I don't mind.
I think it makes sense for me to take red as I've probably contributed least suggestions there so am hopefully a bit more objective.
By a similar token, I'd suggest Alex doing multicolor, as I think that had lots of really good ideas in, but is likely to be complicated to balance, and I think it makes sense to have someone else mushing the ideas into a sensible skeleton.
(By default, that would leave jmg doing blue, link doing white, and black and green up for grabs for whoever likes, but I don't know, do people like that, jmg, what do you think?)
