I see 5/0 splits off of FoFs all the time in multiplayer formats
Steam Augury + Gensto Mines
Huh. Draw up to the worst 4 of the top five cards; or the best one; opponents choice. (Or a 2/3 split, or a 0/5 if your opponent is asleep or secretly on your team or something)
And a land that regenerates artifacts.
A loot-land?
Regenerate the top two artifacts in your deck?
Select some, but not all, of your artifacts to shield? I like that.
Retreat to Coralhelm + Territorial Dragon
Noice. All landfall is also Twiddle or Scry.
Plus... a 4/4 flash dragon that burninates attackers on ETB.
Landfall dragon? Reading the comments, the idea was supposed to be a dragon that defends its territory. So that fits.
Four damage on landfall is a bit much. Let's down it to 2 (in a landfall set, that's probably still too much; but 1 just doesn't LOOK splashy.)
... uh; all OTHER creatures. Dragons don't typically set themselves on fire.
Ah heck with it; let's make it really breakable. All non-dragons.
Suitably legendary name; and some flavourtext.
Deep-Sea Kraken + ((C66151))
I do have a fondness for the big blue stompies. This one is actually really good, because it usually comes out about the time you could normally cast it. And is just flat out "6 damage a turn till you kill it"
And a forest that can explicitly make colourless, and it ETB tapped unless you -1/-1 a creature you control. So it exists in "play shenanigans with -1 counters" world; but ugh do I have loathing for explicit colourless.
A big green stompy that comes out faster if you throw around some -1 counters? That feels reasonable. Although green gets relative cheap stompies anyway.
Green does trample instead of unblockable. And... damnit, for some reason I want to call this "Corvax" but that is, of xcourse,a bird - and green really shouldn't get 8/8 trampling fliers :)
I guess this is sort of 'champion' (or some kind of freaky inverse modular). And... ugh. The simple wording "When ~ ETBs, distribute four -1/-1 counters among creatures you control." doesn't prevent you from just bunging them all on a sacrificial 0/1 token.
I want "Ok, 4/4 trample is good enough right now" to be an option, when the alternative is wiping out your four utility creatures. Bleh. "Such that they don't die" probably isn't template.
Ah well, words that convey the intent used; Werner von Browning the rest.
So here we go. 8/8 for... five? I'd like to say 4 - but that's probably pushing it too far; even if it IS only 4/8 really.
I think I want to push it slightly though. Flavour is some kind of big hungry thing. Either it's fed and healthy; or it's unfed and withered itself. So let's be explicit, and give you a way to feed it up after it ETBs too. That may not tie up quite nicely enough; but it's sure stompy.
"When a creature damaged by ~ dies; put a +1/+1 counter on ~."
Ugh; I just used +1 and -1 counters not only in the same set; but on the same card. Despite the sneakiness of it, that's a big no-no. We'll just remove the counters instead; that's probably clearer flavour anyway. And means you now maybe want to play risk games with it "I can keep more power on the table long term by weakening it as it comes into play... but will it survive to get bigger?"
Too many words for a green rare; really. But most of them are ETB. Make text box saner by using my "Let's move keywords to the type line" tech previous seen on Pegasaur Archer
Been a while; lets do another one.
Wind Sail + Incense Stoker
A Jump variant, and... a creature that says that opponents aren't allowed to have cards on your turn any more.
A card that says creatures cannot gain flying? Pretty niche.
Whenever you cast a spell, also jump a creature? That seems niche and also useful. Flavour is presumably "A wizard does it". Though spring-heeled jack is tempting, that's just "This creature jumps when you cast a spell" which pre-exists.
Text box could almost be "Splice flying onto non-creature spells." But, yeah, this isn't my set, it's the mashup set, let's spell it out.
Mashup of Nature's Touch and Stratus Walk.
See Pyro Chewer and Strangling Soot.
Yeah, Swype gets me sometimes.
Did you mean "Mountain"?
See Familiar Setting and Canyon Wildcat.
Sure; the god-draw is awesome. That's not a bad thing; it'll only happen one in a billion and players will enjoy trying for it.
Seems kind of neat being able to pay 8 life and have 4 mana and a full hand before your first turn starts.
Eh; you can only run four of it :)
I'm not surprised it's considered powerful though - City of Brass was a powerhouse in its day; and still has relevance.
Without the phy - yeah; it's almost exactly half of a Manamorphose. Which seems valid.
With the phy... Yeah; it's good. But you can only run four of it. If it was a herald for a cycle of one-phy cost cantrips; that will be an issue.
This is hella broke. Gitaxian Probe is a pretty decent card, just because being able to pay 2 life to draw a card is great. This is the most relevant part of that, except it nets mana, and also fixes mana. If you do pay the mana for it, it's a 1 drop manamorphose. It completely replaces all the resources it took to cast it, and filters mana, but also gives you the option to pay 2 life to net a mana.
That being said, it would make Storm a top deck in Modern. Actually it'd make Storm /the/ top deck in Modern. Actually probably just the only deck.
Wouldn't this potentially go non stop until a player refuse to deal the damage?
Could use better art

Cantrip doesn't always translate well to people who don't know the word, but draw a card is essential to how the rules work, so everyone is going to understand that. You could make cards that do things when you cantrip but why not just do a when you draw a card.
