Huh. Two ways to go here, I guess - a gold counterspell, or, well, this.

I went {pg} because mana - but actually this should probably be {rp}? Yeah, let's do that little thing.

Oooo. It's like Simian Spirit Guide, but... cantripping... and mana of any colour... Um. This is in fact Lotus Petal (banned for being too good) plus a cantrip, isn't it? (Plus an irrelevant cost in life.)

Yeah, I guess that the life cost is insufficient.

But, well it's not like city of brass was gonna take me anywhere else :)

I think Phyrexian it's supposed to be a creature type, making this "Instant Tribal Sorcery - Phyrexian." And why would you keyword cantrip?

Regarding cantrip - people call it that, so why not?

And I spit upon the distinction between creature and other sub-types. It is entirely a silly distinction to draw.

If you don't separate subtypes by card type, changelings become unplayable for example (since they're auras that aren't attached to anything). Your cantrip keyword is a) pointless, since you still say "draw a card" on the card, and b) has the "unblockable" problem of being too general.

Cantrip doesn't always translate well to people who don't know the word, but draw a card is essential to how the rules work, so everyone is going to understand that. You could make cards that do things when you cantrip but why not just do a when you draw a card.

This is hella broke. Gitaxian Probe is a pretty decent card, just because being able to pay 2 life to draw a card is great. This is the most relevant part of that, except it nets mana, and also fixes mana. If you do pay the mana for it, it's a 1 drop manamorphose. It completely replaces all the resources it took to cast it, and filters mana, but also gives you the option to pay 2 life to net a mana.

That being said, it would make Storm a top deck in Modern. Actually it'd make Storm /the/ top deck in Modern. Actually probably just the only deck.

Eh; you can only run four of it :)

I'm not surprised it's considered powerful though - City of Brass was a powerhouse in its day; and still has relevance.

Without the phy - yeah; it's almost exactly half of a Manamorphose. Which seems valid.

With the phy... Yeah; it's good. But you can only run four of it. If it was a herald for a cycle of one-phy cost cantrips; that will be an issue.

Seems kind of neat being able to pay 8 life and have 4 mana and a full hand before your first turn starts.

Sure; the god-draw is awesome. That's not a bad thing; it'll only happen one in a billion and players will enjoy trying for it.
