Oh good, it seems to have struck the right note.
Yes, I agree, from an aggressive standpoint, I like it as-is, getting cards on defence is always a plus, but a lot less so, which makes sense since it balances out the fact that you're more likely to be able to ensure it blocks a big thing than is blocked by a big thing.
I wanted to check there's not some sort of storm deck with Blasphemous Act or something that it might be broken with: I hoped not, but I wasn't sure.
ETA: Or maybe, a combo deck with "damage to all your creatures" effects is a deck I want to build, so I notice it and it's not likely that it would ever become viable :)
Heh. Yep, Commune with Lava is definitely not Mind Spring even though you get a full extra turn to use them. I like this a lot.
I don't think you need "while attacking" - it already encourages attacking, just more subtly. If you block on this, the only cards you'll get to use are instants.
Tin Street Market+Ronin Cliffrider
One advantage of the red "exile cards, cast this turn" is that it scales but only so far. It's worse to block this with a 3/3 than a 1/1, but not that much more worse to block it with a 7/7.
Not sure if it should say "while attacking" or "by a source an opponent controls" to cut down combos, or if they should be encouraged...
Yeah, I think glimmervoid would likely be printed like that now. It's hard to measure strength -- I think it's probably underpowered in most blocks, and massively broken in conjunction with traditional affinity decks...
And yes, I forgot to use
. Judging by people who've been playing for a long time before I started, I am going to go on forgetting for decades... :)
Compare to Glimmervoid? This seems better, but more in line with modern design conventions.
now? :D)
(Did you forget that you can use
Manic Vandal+Vivid Meadow?
Alabaster Dragon+Tremulous Aquamoeba
Mashup (extremely generously) of ((C52820)) and Faerie Rogue
Civic Guildmage + Frenetic Banewillow
Mashup of Gudul Lurker and Ricochet.
:)
Scornful Egotist calmed down long enough to have a baby with Doran, the Siege Tower!
Mashup of Ritual // Belief and Knightly Valor
Mashup of Hideous End and Ancient Guardian
Nice. Quite a bit better than Sengir Autocrat - you're getting 4 power for 4 mana here, which is on par with Spectral Procession. But the lifeloss ability isn't especially powerful (nice, but not overly strong) so I guess 4 for 4 is fair. I think I'd expect this to be rare though.
Mashup of Festering Swarm and Pallisade. See also previous mashup: Palisade Defenders.
Mashup of Festering Swarm and Pallisade
Most sets wouldn't have such a defensive card, nor such specialised tokens, but I liked the concept.
Ah. I missed the fact that it only counters creatures. Still, Desertion was printed at a time when Counterspell was fair, and many games rarely got to round 5. Personally, I think Gather Specimens is a better card to compare this to.
Eh, it's only one mana less than Desertion, requires two colors, can only counter creatures, can't steal artifacts, and limits the creature's usefulness. feels like a case could be made!
Technically overpowered. But, yes, very clever.
Haha! I love it.
Wall of Swords + Red Elemental Blast
quietly fixes stupid mistake
Mashup of Scrying Glass and Black Rack
I liked the idea of a simple artifact that could do several simple things. In fact, I wish I could have done away with the mana costs on the abilities, but I thought it would have to be expensive given the flexibility and then it was a bit unexciting.
I also wished I could have included a link between scrying and cards in opponent's hand. Hm, maybe something with "each player draws a card"?
Even more similar to Necromantic Selection. You may want to exile on resolution to prevent shenanigans with Mnemonic Wall effects.
Mash-up of Apococlasm and Moonlit Strider.
This is somewhere between Day of Judgement and Duneblast, it gives you a clear leg-up afterwards and avoids completely wasting one of your best creatures, but it still gives you an incentive not to over-commit, and doesn't immediately give you a commanding board presence.
Uh...if you are the attacking player, this is checking your hand size against itself, and requiring that x < x. Presumably one of the two mentions of "attack" is supposed to change to either "block" or "defending".
