That's better
Probably not. If you do want it, you could channel MaRo with "colorless is not a color"
Its Dromoka Captain and Furious Assault. It seemed like a good Mardu card and definitely more Mardu than Boros.
I'm wondering if I need the reminder text that says "You can not choose colorless"
Yes I did confuse myself a bit trying to word the mana ability. Your wording seems much better Dude1818
It's Boros Signet and Trait Doctoring.
Its interesting that I got two very different Ravnica cards. Because of the way the card works, it didn't seem very Boros or Dimir so instead I made it Simic. Mixing a sorcery with an artifact was kind of strange so i made it an enchantment.
As written, this card is WUG for commander deck building. What about simplifying the ability into "Enchanted creature loses all abilities and becomes the chosen colors. It has "T: Add one mana of each of this creature's colors."
Oblivion Ring + Application Error grrrr Brazen Charm
One of the more recent iconic cards; Heroku fails again; ok, a costly 3-way charm - that's a one-sided tap-down; a targetted discard; or wash into two mana. ... a mana wash on a tricolour card. Flavourful, given the pirate theme; but duff.
So exile into piracy? That's a very thematic thing. In fact, why not?
Has to get from outside the game, since they may well not have one to search for.
The clusiness of LTB brings me to use 'dies' and now it's a creature instead of an enchantment; here we now have an island governer, who sends away a noble into exile - and once the governer is removed; said noble can come back as a swashbuckling pirate to take their revenge.
Except, this being mtg; it'll exile a multidmensional horror from beyond colour; who then comes back as a minotaur planeswalker.
Given that you can use this on yourself, it's a polymorph. So add blue to the cost. So now it can properly be an island governer.
Cyclopean Tomb + Mayael's Evocation
Oh wow. The first uncastable artifact. Accidentally, of course :) Anyway, slowly turns things to swamps; and then when it dies, they slowly turn back.
And all your power 5 creatures bring along a clone. (Optional, you're not forced to mess up your own legends)
So everything gradually turns into a clone? Sure, we can do that.
Should this be an enchantment? Yeah; it could be. Let's. I dropped the "slowly turn back" because of the rules fiddliness it entails.
Cogwork Librarian was a ton of fun
Cogwork Librarian + Eraser Beam
A simple blast-to-exile spell; albeit surprisngly high damage.
And... ohboy. A fairly boring vanilla 3/3 whose primary usage is to save a draft-pick for later.
Good because "There's absolutely nothing I want in this pack, so maybe I should second and third pick from the next one" is something you occasionally want. But terrible because what are the chances you'll hit that and have one of these in the pack you don't want? So I guess maybe it works for picking one up as a late pick in an early draft to use first-pick in a later one. Mehhh.
And how the heck do I mash those together? Well; if we're going to have creatures visible in draft, we should be able to shoot them.
So ok; zap a drafted creature out of the draft. Or, after the draft; kill a creature out of someone's deck entirely.
Kiiinda completely and utterly un. There's probably lods of very good reasons why conspiracy didn't go there.
Consume a +1/+1 counter.
But what would "+1" in a circle do?
Application Error + Fleshmad Stitcher + Ashling's Prerogative
Ok; two cost-2 cards. In blue - Doctor Frankenstein, immune to spells, draws a card when he dies. Not totally convinced on the flavour there; but a perfectly good magic card. And in red; we have one of those completely bonkers global "The field does WHAT?" cards. Grants haste to half of all casting costs, and Kismet to the other half. Your choice of odd or even and... I jhust want to cast a second one so that it's all sorted out.
This actually feels like a use for oath. Heck; I can make a really simple little blue cantrip-wizard out of that. And I think the cost is right; too - you can have a cantrip on a card better than otherwise-vanilla for 3, or looting on an otherwise-vanilla for 2, or "draw if set/tribal mechanic" for 2. So cantrip-if-drawback for 2 seems ok.
Not a biggie, but they don't all have to be.
Silver Knight + Lens of Clarity
A classic White Knight variant. And.. an anti-morph card that also does yummy things to scry and other top-of-deck things.
Knight of clarity would probably be a blue knight? Or maybe anti-blue?
Or lens-knight. I could do a doc-smith and use the word 'lenticular' until it loses all meaning. Actually; how would you transpose a lensman into mtg?
Hmmm. Lensmen (and this is old enough that it's a major plot point when you gain a femal one; in a later book than you have lens-aliens...) are psychic (telepathy, astral scrying, some compulsion), pilots, inventors (macguyver ultra-spaceships), inspirational leaders, incorruptible... Ok; how did I fail to notice how few serial numbers the jedi had filed off? Maybe because the Jedi don't throw anti-matter planets at people. They are also founded as a foil in a universal war between two giant mental powers (the other side uses moriarty-like figures who recruit crime organisations).
So a foil for moriarty. I'm making psychic-sherlock holmes? That's a thing that can fit into mtg! "Incorruptible" can be a keyword easily enough; though it would be an unusual set where turncoats were common enough to deserve one.
Protection against (tribe) or (colour) might work; but Holmes isn't really invulnerable. Just a step ahead - unblockable by maybe? Ah; maybe unblockable as long as the opponent controls (mastermind). That can work; and provides some odd posibilities for interaction.
So having settled on a sometimes-unblockable creature, we come to stats. High power, low toughness - to encourage attacks. Colour... Grumble. Almost wants to be red; stats tell me it really shouldn't be blue; but flavour and unblockable does. White for the stability of control? ... No. Huh. I've made a black-holmes. How odd to end up there from here.
Odunos River Trawler + Wudd Boneblade
Zombie that raise-deads a set-mechanic-creature; twice. And a cheap 1/1 that thresholds into a 2/2 on the set mechanic being in the graveyard.
Which is actually an interesting variant on set mechanic threshold; I think. "I'm better if the set mechanic is being used; and is being beaten." Still parasitic though. And it's named "Wudd". Keeping that.
So obviously making a black creature that cares; deeply and parasitcially; about its set mechanic.
Searching for random set mechanics gets me Horsemanship. Well JOY; that's impressively dumb. Let's trigger on -1 instead, it's close enough. And wow, that wording is horribad. And now it's not parasitic any more.
It's kinda interesting though - turns "You get -1/-1" into "Wudd steals 1/1 from you"
Goblin Cavaliers + Unbound Portal
A vanilla 3/2, overcost by nowadays; and "Put a creature into play and some other stuff in the graveyard", costing and .
Ok; I think we can have a vanilla that brings along another critter. Goblins run in... three legged races. Uh. Warrens.
But it does let you cast a hard-counterspell for and 6 life. Which feels wrong.
is also an interesting possibility. Strange aside: if you pay 8 life to cast the spell for free, it does nothing.
is also possible (Drain Life) though I'm not too fond of the direction.
