Skyrider Patrol + (((Exorcist’s Mirror)))
2/3 flier that puts +1/+flying counters on things. And... a card that temporarily hides things from graveyards. Very very niche.
So, a flier that eats things from the graveyard? Sure, that works. Or turn graveyard things into counters/flying? Or a flier that hides something else?
Eh, I've not had a particularly clever idea. Have an inkeyes enabler.

Like I said, not unthinkable. Some nonconditional red examples would be Sparktongue Dragon, Dragon Hatchling, and Lightning Shrieker. Would it be a bit unusual? Certainly, but weirder cards have appeared under nwo at common (in red) such as the forementioned Shrieker.
Red has two common flyers in Magic 2020 alone, with Daggersail Aeronaut and Goblin Bird-Grabber. Admittedly, the rule of thumb seems to be 'Red can have flying in common, but only if it comes with restrictions.'
Admittedly, I don't think I want to see the mana cost Wizards would think is fair for a red dragon in common without restrictions...
In red? Red doesn't get common flyers.
It wouldn't be groundbreaking / unheard of to have this at common: Scion of Ugin, Riverwheel Aerialists, and the recent Reaper of Night (that undoubtedly has a red-flag though).
Mountain (2011 if important) + Sunwing Eagle
4/5 flier. Make red. Huh.
Annoyingly; despite the vanillaness, can't be common. Too big, and red fliers are Dragons and pheonices and such.
Can't really be a 'nix; they always have powers. So do most dragons, but we can have a wyvern I think.
About the only way I can make this interesting is my preference for putting vanillaness in the type-line.
Cost... eh, we'll do a non-aggressive cmc 5.
Drifting Meadow and Mairsill, the Pretender
A Grixis wizard legend that exiles cards to copy their abilities. A white land that you cycle. I'm using a bit of creative to find a halfway point.
Updated cost, and I would like somebody to have a looksie at this badboy. I'm a bit worried something like it already exists.
Agonizing Memories + (((Show of Nigel)))
Anyway; equip:Unblockable. Oddly, no such equipment already exists without also granting somethign else? Oh - "Can't be blocked" not "is unblockable". So there's a couple that grant with small limits, or downsides, as well; as the more expensive ones with upsides.
And an interesting variant on discard. You can't make them lose a card completely - they get them back, eventually. It's just a delay. But if their hand is plugged up with junk, you can wreck their draw for a while. It's almost "Skip your next draw".
Anyway; making equipment, and there's what our equipment can do. And I even tied it in to the obvious flavour text for a card named Nigel.
Hey Hey lets not forget about Door to Nothingness and Aetherflux Reservoir
Gonti's Aether Heart, Grimoire of the Dead, Oblivion Stone, Planar Bridge,
This is actually super cool. You could probably break it real easily.
Not too bad. I like how it works on either a teammate, an opponent, or yourself
Huddle Up + Alena, Kessig Trapper
Huh. One of the few cards for team games. Not a very good one. You get to cantrip, they get to pay 2 and draw a card. I mean, drawing cards is always good, but it's only a cantrip.
And a somewhat confusingly worded card that kinda means every creature attacks twice.
So! This feels like a simple enough mash - all my creatures can fight for you, and all yours can fight for me.
Wording that though... Guh.
Ok, fight is symmetrical, and we can make this work outside a team environment by having it target the opponent instead?
And, well; I guess sometimes you'll find a use for fighting your own creatures. Sure, it's a bit garden-pathy (spot you can do it, try to figure out WHY you might want to do it, ralise ther eisn't a good reason), but this is clearly a rare anyway so that's not a problem.
Runtime Error. Well, that's a new one. Trying again.
Rain of Revelation + Viashino Raiders
Draw 3, discard 1. And sab red-loot.
I think I just invented a new form of blue evasion. You could block it, but you won't want to.
It's a downside; but it's also mill, and a puzzle piece, and pseudo evasion for a blue rush deck (totally a thing, ask any unlimited-era merfolk player)
good point; let's actual give it the watermark
This actually seems very Phyrexian which is always a good thing. It would work even better with artifact creatures that have a death trigger.
Strange mix of Prophetic Bolt and Cabal Trainee
Swamp (Tarkir version) + Metallicus
A dragon that can repeatedly copy all of your artifacts. Seriously mythic. And it's already a mythic dragon. Hard to make that more tarkir.
So blackenise it?
Black is more likely to turn your artifacts into a gooey oil, than to copy them. Phy artifacts tend to be around sacrifice.
So maybe a dragon that can sacrifice artifacts to... something. To activate them maybe? Yeah, that feels like a nice opposite of copying them. You get one temporary copy, right now; at the cost of never having any others.
Thanks :)
omegalul you got kermit'ed
also a pretty cool card, that's a neat way to make tribal matter.
wow, image search is CRAP at finding things WEARING hats. This is now a frog, due to creative.
Academy Rector + Spectrify
I thought that one was from the dark? Huh. Anyway, dies into exile and a new enchantment; and exiles a creature into a token of itself. Both white.
Clearly something white which exiles into something, then.
We've got creature and enchantment already. Artifacts maybe? White likes digging those up. Some kind of archaeologist. No! An archaeology department head who exiles people off into the wilds to be archaeologists. And sometimes mysterious finds appear at the museum.
Hmmm; this ended up way too wordy. And hammers the "Do this" story home a bit too hard. Was:
: Exile target creature you control. It is now an archaeologist in addition to its other creature types. Search your deck for an artifact with casting cost equal to the number of archaeologists in play or exile. Put it into play.
Sooo... yeah, I think I'm gonna simplify and keep the flavour as more of a hint. Though ironically losing the 'exile' in the process.
Also, the art clearly needs to be a classroom full of fantasy creatures all wearing stetsons and carrying bullwhips. Image search fails me.
Ah no; I can make it a dig instead of a cmc-search. That's more flavourful ANYWAY (though only via fan-terminology) and exile the unwanted cards.
Still slightly too wordy. Of course; want to be an archaeologist itself.
Archaeologist tribal. It could have been a thing! (They're Artificers now, I think?)
Can this cost 2? Eh, maybe. I'm crap at pricing search cards. I guess it's always drawing some cards; so has to be kinda pricey. Certainly can't be common. Should it be rare? Maybe. It seems like a build hint "Make an archaeologist-tribal deck with a few really good artifacts to dig up!" to me though.
cool card
