How about just "Equipped creature and all creatures blocking or blocked by equipped creature have deathtouch"?
Barbed Battlegear did a slight toughness reduction on equipment; it's entirely possible that was conceived as an equipment version of Blood Lust. (So, of course, did Skullclamp, but that didn't mind if the creature died in the process; quite the reverse...)
I don't think equipment that can only go on a creature with toughness 5 or greater is a particularly sensible idea. Or at least, if this was printed it'd single-handedly make me recreate my old Magnetic Theft - Isochron Scepter deck of equipment designed to go on your creatures :P (Vulshok Gauntlets, Dead-Iron Sledge, Peregrine Mask, Skullclamp, and back when damage went on the stack, Sword of Fire and Ice. Sadly Grafted Wargear doesn't work.)
don't need a rarity; both source cards are old enough :)
Blood Lust + Thumbs Down
Hoist by my own petard, as one of the quintessential red buffs pairs up against a "Hey, look what the magic rules ought to support but don't" card.
So - when a creature is in combat; either its opponent dies, or it does. That works reasonably well with -4 toughness, and would produce bloodlust shifted into equipment. But we can go better by using deathtouch, I think.
Also, I really like the art on bloodlust. It would have been so easy to go for a crazed beserker; rather than a lady who is quite obviously literally in lust to a Wall of Blood. It amused me way-back-when too. So lets use another ambiguous name, and art of a blood-covered feather.
Curfew + Summon the Pack ... that's just begging to have a really horrible lock-down by combining the "Return to hand" part with curfew's effect, but let's not. Ok, the name clearly needs to be "Summon the Curfew". And the curfew clearly is a wolf that bounces creatures. ... and that leads on to something that makes wolves into bouncers. And that leads to "the boy who cried wolf" (although wolves guarding a nightclub is also a fun image) And if it's a coinflip design, it's red.
and, sadly, this means I'm contributng yet another wordy rare creature to the multiverse.
Possibly true; but it's still reasonably big and reasonably essential for the opponent that they block it. I like the old Unlimited way of saying this sort of thing.
You know, it's true. I kind of wish we could just say 'upkeep'. It, unfortunately, is one more bar raise for new players. Perhaps 'At upkeep ->' Is suggestive enough? It's also a pity that the theme of Magic is fantasy and not scifi... you could get away with a lot more 'future words' in scifi. "Upkeepable".
Also wonder if you could get away with making this a 5/5. It's really a horrible card to sit on defense with.
Gaseous Form + Lord of Sazlac Envrie
Upkeep kicker? Wtf? Surely there's a better way to say that... At least the form is conceptually simple.
Flamekin Spitfire + Rialla, the Preserver.
No, I refuse to use another ridiculously wordy multiverse cards. Expensive repeatable ping combines with Hurly-Burly. Damage to creatures either with or without flying.
...Hated technology for an obvious combination!
Still awkward... but now it makes a few people less angry, yes.
One way around that: make the discard say "discard a noncreature card".
Pyrostatic Pillar but more indiscriminate. Looks good.
Heeee. Yeah, that looks actually quite plausible. You get a Blightsteel Colossus, but you lose 11 life to do it.
Pity that if you turn up 2 BSCs, you don't instantly die from paying 22 life, because after paying the first 11 life you can't pay enough life to cast the second one so you don't have to pay any more life.
Fair enough, but then the card becomes... hmm. Well, let me put it this way: If Wizards had printed this card the way it is, and I happened to write an article, and this card happened to come up, I would have lambasted them for it.
For many players, a card like this is a gigantic disappointment. Every time they look at it, they imagine what they could do with it, if it was just printed 'the right way'. Those players would hate this card, not because it's a bad card, but because the card has 'lost potential'. Now, granted, the potential is only lost in one's imagination. But, to me, I can't help but look at this card and think of what I can't do with the card. That's rather distracting.
Mmm, it's meant to be an extra cost; not "Hey, cast any creature you like for rr2" so no, I think this way round is right.
Ooh, awkward. Right now, you can't resurrect the creature you discarded, due to targeting timing issues. I'd suggest removing the word target. It's a bit sketchy, but the alternative is worse. That, and I like playing mind games with counterspell players. :)
Breath of Life + Distortion Blast
So, reanimate. A nice simple effect. And; Discard a card, creature gets +CMC/+0 or deal CMC damage. ... does multiverse have ANY simple cards on it?
Fine; let's go with a pun in the name and shift the ressurect to red.
Heat of Battle + Cast from Beyond
Punish blocking, and a wish. Punish wishing? Punish casting?
My Genius Knows No Bounds + Coastal Wizards
Gain life, draw cards, cast free proxy cards and huge-ass toughness. Well, that's rather good.
Ok, I think I see an evil option here. Channel would probably be black these days; and black certainly gets top-of-deck search now.
Nice simple-yet-interesting rules text.
Red usually only gains control temporarily. But I do like the flavour here. Blue is primary in control-change and gets it any which way; red is secondary and gets it temporarily; black is tertiary and usually gets it by being particularly evil. :P So this could be black or blue.
Wall of Stone + Hammelin Enchanter
... A Wall of pied piper. The pied piper's cave? There's plenty of walls that take control of creatures already. Guess we'll go with the simple version, since red gets control now.
Ahh, I see, you're wanting not a way to cast it but a way to get the effect if you discard it. Like Metrognome or Guerrilla Tactics. "When you discard ~" will do fine there.
(And yeah, RoR's rather expensive for what it does, isn't it?)
