Meteor Storm + Raider's Axe

Hmm, both involve discarding cards. They both cause damage to creatures. Shock-on-madness seems a likely candidate.

And so we end up with a rod of ruin variant.

Does that mean:

> Madness {r}
When ~ ETBs, if its madness cost was paid, ~ deals 2 damage to target creature.

(See Grave Scrabbler, which I think is the only time this has been done.)

Do you also mean for it to be sacrificed if the madness cost was paid, or not? I can't quite tell from your... concise wording there ;)

BTW, Raider's Axe doesn't include discarding cards or damaging creatures... Wrong link? Ahh, you mean Raider's Axe. Heh: duplicate card name :)

BTW2, Granite Shard is a Rod of Ruin variant that charges {3} (like the original Rod) or {r}. Getting the effect for just {1} per turn seems slightly too strong to me - I still use Granite Shard in casual decks. BICBW.

I thought madness was "If you're discarding this, pay its madness cost to get the following effect" That's what I intend there, anyway. Also wow, misremembered how crap RoR was. Changing. Still striclty better than RoR, but.. yeah. For good reason.

And yeah "Added power" is kinda sort "damaging creatures" :) Close enough to make me come up with this mash, anyway. And I strongly suspect my "would discard this" wording is STILL wrong.

Ahh, I see, you're wanting not a way to cast it but a way to get the effect if you discard it. Like Metrognome or Guerrilla Tactics. "When you discard ~" will do fine there.

(And yeah, RoR's rather expensive for what it does, isn't it?)
