now with phasing :p
@SI: I did in fact think of combining phasing with the replacement effect. Wasn't sure if there was a way to keep them phased out for multiple turns. Teferi, Timeless Voyager prevents them from phasing in once, but using zone changes with duration like your suggestion could be made to work. I need to stay a replacement effect though to prevent it from doubling etb effects at the outset
I changed it to non-Spirits so it would connect to my hypothetical Return to Kamigawa set :p
@Link: No, that's the opposite flavor. This is letting mortals into the demiplane of the kami, not capturing any sort of death mechanic
Couldn't this be a white card?
"Whenever a nontoken creature dies, its controller creates a token that's a copy of it, except that token is a Spirit in addition to its other types."
I feel this would benefit from using phasing tech:
> Whenever a non-Spirit creature enters the battlefield, its controller creates a token that's a copy of that creature except it is a Spirit in addition to its types. The first creature phases out until the token leaves the battlefield.
I just know there is a combo that will exploit the use of the phrase "non-Spirit" over "nontoken", but that's your choice. :P
I think I figured out a way to capture the original intent of giving creatures an extra life. It's a bit better than totem armor for everything, since it also doubles up etb and ltb triggers.
now has a function
What does this achieve? Protection from exile, I suppose?
cost? I guess?
Yeah. The original plan was to put the card back into play after the token leaves, but I couldn't figure out how to make that not go infinite. As it is, it just makes everything a token.
Huh. Ok, so kind of everything gets a totem armour on entry.
The closest I can think of for an effect like this is Full Moon's Rise - which only affects your creatures, and has a second bonus. But only helps if everything you have dies at once, where this sets up the shield to last until it's used up. (It is also locking you into a werewolfy deck.)
So I guess "Regenerate everything one time" can be surprisingly pretty cheap?
And... wait. It puts the replacement into the graveyard, not into hand. So it's actually just "All creatures are token creatures". ... That can only posisbly be useful as an abusive combo of some kind. So it either costs about nineteen (if such a combo exists) or zero. Blue mana, either way; because "Yeah, gonna do something strange and seemingly pointless" is purple, but until we get purple, blue is closest.
I have no idea what this should cost
Makes me want to work on my idea of a Ghost in the Shell Kamigawa reboot again though
She was a member of the cartel that distributed the magical fuel "zahar," so the triggered ability is her regular dealings with it. She ends up on the run from the cartel and dips into "forgotten magics," represented by the threshold ability

Dang image has terrible dimensions :/
flavor text
See Honored of Ilysia. Not sure if I want the green one to be the natural inhabitant of Ilysia or the dead
See Host of Ilysia. Not sure if I want the green one to be the natural inhabitant of Ilysia or the dead
See Oread of Agonas. The only subdomain without associated creature types, since no one "greets" you when you die to here
See Siren of Nerono.
See Shade of Tizerus. The best flavor would for the trigger to be "scry 2 then shuffle immediately," but I'm willing to make concessions for gameplay
See Ironic Return. I may make this an entire cycle
See Kunoros, Veil Guardian and Soul Separator.
Poor Daxos

See Through the Veil.
