So, I'm considering either reprinting a cycle of cycling lands at common, or make a new one.
Options:
(I don't think Deserts fit the setting, so Desert of the Indomitable etc. are out)
Discovery in Rivals of Ixalan! :)
That's neat because I always considered it the best mechanic to come out of Pyrulea (next to the explore version Ixalan took as well but that is not currently in the set).
With 1/1 green tokens already being Insects these Elementals seem out of place. That said more Elemenental tokens might be nice to have for variety in mid-range and large sizes.
Hmmm... maybe it's not bad to have this be a card that is underwhelming unless you look for it. On the other hand at five mana activation cost this seems not like something you can activate before you cast another spell to get that additional point of damage out of e. g. Trailblaze.
I just feel this has more to offer as an enabler than as a pay-off card.
"discard up to two cards. If you did, draw cards equal to the number of cards discarded this way." >> "discard up to two cards, then draw that many cards." (compare: Daretti, Scrap Savant)
For some weird reason the change to Elemental didn't take, so... let's leave it open for discussion. :)
Mm, the two powers together are an "Oh! That's why I might want to do it!" moment.
Just having the "Become 'also a land'" is much more of a "But.. why?" moment, on its own.
I'd think a creature that is always also a land would be a clearer common-version, than one that activated. "And it also counts as a land" could be read as trinket-text and passed over as "Ok, vanilla common with the sets 'thing' on it" by those not looking for that mechanic.
I'd like this to have static power and toughness if it stays at common. It already benefits discovery by becoming a land.
Can probably omit the "if you did". And I dunno, I quite like the idea of the lizards having a freakin dinosaur for a shaman. I mean, wouldn't you do what a 6/4 said?
name: Magma Caller >> Vigorous Sunblood; type: Lizard Shaman >> Elemental; standardized wording
It's a pretty good enchantment, but

and two cards is a bit steep for it.
So yes, I guess I'd suggest making the basic body smaller and cheaper, to compensate; and have less of a bad-feel when you trade it in.
3/3 for 3 is a sizable body. Is it the kind of thing you want to give up to get an enchantment? Sorcery speed means this is not used to gain value - actually you invest two cards into getting the enchantment.
Needs reminder text?

Hi, Irrigated Farmland cycle. :)
Cycling cost:

>>

I'm a fan of putting the activated ability just on this card: > "Tap an untapped creature you control: Target player puts the top card of their library into their graveyard."
Possible win-condition for white-blue as well.
"This effect can't reduce the amount of mana an ability costs to activate to less than one mana." was in italics
added to skeleton for now
