You guys realize you can bounce the canister or the Pioneer Researcher and get another canister? Or the flash Thopter girl? And have still a 5/5 to break through board stalls? There seem to be a lot of tricks for it on file.
It's also a large threat that other decks won't want, unlike the current GU uncommon guy who just gets sniped by the BG deck because recharge and draw is pretty great.
The nonland permanent gets weird if you have no board. It also technically synergizes with the tapped lands, but only sorta.
First it needs to be in your deck in order to untap it :P
The body is fairly mediocre compared to most bodies of splash colors. Blue seems actually fairly aggressive/tempo, so the mana investment while small is real. The real payoffs in blue are at four/five mana so you will seldom activate it on curve. The body on it isn't as defensive as others in blue so usually it gets the axe.
Nice.
fun rare for limited and a mana sink
Is this th GU uncommon?
If we become worried about the power level, the card draw could easily become a Scry
I'd rather see it monogreen
Canister Buster is outdated on the skeleton, the latest playtest used a different design I'd have to dig up.
I guess my main reason I don't like this as U/G is it can easily just be mono blue and work just as well.
I hadn't thought of the untapping enabling combos. Perhaps you're right.
I think often the point is to keep something tapped down like a weaker Claustrophobia. Act of Treason, canisters, and sacrifice all have ways to use tapped creatures. It is extra good if you can steal it and then sacrifice the aura. If we make it untap whenever it is targeted we would need to keep an eye out for infinite combos. It would be a lot better with combat tricks and could see play in prowess decks. I like it without that but you can add it if you think it is needed. 2U->3U
@Doombringer You mean we only have space for 1 blue/green uncommon and Canister Buster is doing a good job, right?
Ironically if it put the perminent on top of my library, I would be more likely to target a canister.
Cool, that makes the most sense
I think the issue here is we just don't have room for a blue/green uncommon.
Considering Tesla was decided to be on Kaladesh before the announcement of the official set, we are treating this as an alternate history. Using hints from the Origins story but diverging from details in new set.
Oh. I don't think I realized this set was set on Kaladesh, I just assumed it was the same aesthetic. So how are you working with the current official Kaladesh set?
I prefer this for Baral. The other card wants to be Garruk.
Reminds me of Nulltread Gargantuan. That was card disadvantage as well as tempo disadvantage and this is only -0/-1 smaller, so I think this is probably overpushed.
It's just that Willbreaker is more of a control deck sorta guy, and this is more of an aggressive thing. The Willbreaker has to stay alive to work. This wants to steal things and smash face
I like the direct mirroring of Willbreaker, but it could be a 3/2.
A WU Baral, Blade of Retribution.
How about "deals 2 damage to target creature. Tap that creature." A bleed in the same vein as Stabbing Pain?
Can it be a 3/2?
Gating is normally green, and occasionally white or blue.
Artifact sounds good to me. Or maybe, for something more novel "When CARDNAME ETBs, sacrifice it unless you exile a token you control."
How about 4/3 Trample?
spelling
Also this should cost at minimum 1UU or 3U I feel
Agreed. Should untap on targeting. Existence of Canisters not enough.
They don't get to untap it too? What's the point?
Maybe we're being too subtle. "Return an artifact you control to your hand."
