Wizards used that naming convention in Kamigawa: the Kitsune-bito, the Nezumi-bito, and the Orochi-bito are fox people, rat people, and sneople (snake people), respectively.
Also, in researching, I found that a nice name for the 'Tigrala' could be 'Shirnara', where 'Shir' is tiger and 'Nara' is people. The 'Vanara', an actual mythological people of India, are named the same way - monkey people.
This card references the cycle from Origins, where they cared about cards with the same name.
This card is meant to represent a rudimentary lightbulb, and is both a steampunk trope and a reference to Anthem. It reveals the way.
This could also be considered an alternative to Outlands Monitor, if people don't feel that represents progress enough. :P
Oh my bad Alex, I ROYALLY screwed up the reminder text. That's what I get for just abusing copy-paste late at night. -_-
The intent is that, after you cast it, you can cast it from exile transformed for
. It's flashback with a new effect upon being cast for the second time.
Just gonna plug it in for now. I think it works nicely with Naga in the set.
I don't understand that reminder text at all. If I cast it for 4U, then it briefly goes on the stack, but then gets exiled transformed... And then I immediately get an one-off chance to pay another 4U to cast the flip side, and if I don't, it stays exiled forever. I'm sure that's not the way it's meant to work because 10 mana for a Foresee is completely ridiculous.
Even if it's not meant to be immediate, 10 mana in two installments is still ridiculous. When the spell resolves it goes face-up into the graveyard.
Let's just call this what it is, yes? It even fits flavorfully in the set, since "Artifice on Kaladesh exists in harmony with the environment, and the creatures of Kaladesh have adapted to its presence."
Works well with Canisters, defends against Thopters well.
