noooooooooooooooooooo now i need to get that voice out of my head
aaaa
EX-TER-MINATE
a dalek that sounds defeated is probably the saddest thing i could think of right now, so against nature
EX-TER-MINATE? I EX-TER-MIN-NO? OHHHH, BUT I WAS MADE TO EX-TER-MIN-ATE OOOO-OOO-OOOF
Ambush Raid + Avacynian Priest
Empty your hand. Red discard? That's a thing? And a tap-down.
Red tap? A discard creature?
Target creature attacks this turn if able (but it isnt able, you're only allowed to attack players) would work? Although the siren effect is blue. Largely because alpha cared for flavour more than mechanical identity.
And huh, you know what? Red often prefers "Cannot block" as its clue for 'must attack'. So why not do a red-style cage effect? If your creature cannot do anything OTHER than attack; well, you might as well attack with it, right?
So almost the opposite of a tap-down; and uses the "Huh, in THAT colour?" bit of the first card, I guess. Pseudo-removal and just too strange for common; but doesn't need to be rare. Can be cheap though.
Murder + (((Application error))) this is getting silly Siphoned Souls
It's moider! And three times, steal 1 life or create a 1/1 token.
Moider three toimes? Siphon some Moiders? Create a chicago ganster with a scots accent I don't even know any more?
Gah. Mashing with a very simple card is hard. Let's go with the simplest mash - triple murder. And while we could word this differently; wording it THIS way means I don't have to write "Up to" and makes it look a bit like it's just emphasis. Add flavour text that makes this obvious; and the name kinda wants to be "Dalekise" but we'll go with the more obvious name. Which makes reading the card even more fun.
Go ahead, just try reading some dalek text without doing the voice:
I COME FROM A PLACE WHERE GODS ROAM A-MONGST THE STARS, WHERE THERE ARE BEINGS THAT COULD E-RASE ALL OF RE-AL-ITY WITH BUT A ME-RE THOUGHT, THAT COULD BEND TI-ME TO THEIR WILL AND FREE YOU FROM HAVING EVER BEING BORN!! YET, NO MAT-TER HOW PO-WER-FUL THEY ARE, THEY ALL FEAR THE SAME THING.
The Incubator looked supremely confused. "You?” It asked.
“NOT ME.” Sec corrected. “A WO-RD; IT IS A WO-RD THAT CAU-SES SUCH FE-AR, THAT E-VEN THE LORDS OF TI-ME ARE SENT TO THEIR KNE-ES.”
“And what word is that?”
“EX-TER-MINATE!!!”
Fend Off + Challenge # 028 ...Hang on, there are TWO design challenges of that name. I actually rolled Challenge # 028.
Cycling, fog a single creature. And top-down based on...The Eye of Sauron
Gosh. Well, the eye is the worlds ultimate big bad turning his attention to you. A dread gaze that terrifies those who it falls upon. It directs the Nazgul, and can just outright take over the will of a ring bearer. It can be hidden from, but it can also be attracted by using his rings. It's depicted as wreathed in fire, and is in some way linked to the scrying/communication crystal balls.
Well. I presume 'Sorin' is the not-very-obfuscated 'Sauron'. I know and care nothing, but that's how we file off the serial numbers. The gaze falling upon you is a nice 'affect single creature'. It controls you if you're already influenced; otherwise you're able to escape - and cycling covers that pretty well. And.. yeah, they're pretty much always do that, so make it draw YOU a card too. And this feels like a nicely black card.
It's basically murder+you both draw a card. But they can choose to give you the creature instead, if they prefer. Swap the clauses around, to make it clear that this is the escape clause, rather than the normal option. (Was "may sacrifice it, it they do, etc. etc.")
Cost... well, it's murder. While you do get to draw a card off it, so to they; AND there's a get-out clause. I reckon we can get away with 3. Could use the crappy 'legendary sorcery' tech and go lower; but that tech is horrid.
Hmm, odd that I went with the effect - I guess "Sorin's Oculus" would be
to cast this effect. But I like it this way.
hit 'sumbmit' before I'd added P/T. Ooops! Take them from the second card.
Bolt of Keranos + Trinket Peddler
Wow. Lightning bolt got overcosted again. Scry tacked on is btter than it looks, but ouch. CMC3 sorcery? It's like wizards don't want red to win. And make things unable to block, and something else a bit bigger; kinda really cheap.
So some red card. Which doesn't seem to have a coherant shared mechanic. Except "Does something to creatures" maybe. Maybe the name mash will help... Well, that gives us a fabric merchant. On the plus side, that'sa real thing. On the minus - what does one of it do in Magic?
Tap to sell you a very fine rug.
Persian magic carpets? That's a thing in magic, right? Yes; there's a named one to grant you flying, and a nameless one to grant a creature flying. That, um, would seem to cover all the bases, really.
I guess I could grant a creature high-flying? That would be kinda interesting maybe as an offensive option. Comes close to the 'unable to block' bit, too. Take 'only as a sorcery' from the first card and maybe we're done?
