Not really. You could just have something like "As an additional cost to playing this land, spend X mana". But I do understand why, like, 95% of the Magic playing community would hate that.
It seems like it would make lands into spells, which means a whole lot of changes and interactions that I, personally, don't want to see.
As silly as this is, it seems rather reasonable. There probably is design room for mana cost on lands... the rule book would need quite a few paragraphs up updating to do it, though...
Haha. I was looking through my cards on here, and it just seems like the ones I designed a year ago are so bad. The worst part of this one, for me, anyway, is the mana cost on a land.
Sure. But that requires a) you to be able to write multiple lines, and b) for me to apply my Markdown filterer to card names :) dude's original approach (using < br > tags) would have worked fine as well if b) were in place.
And I think a lot of people know Markdown but don't realise it. It's the formatting in use on StackOverflow and every other StackExchange site, for example. It's also not exactly new (2004, I think, although I only discovered it on SO and other SE sites).
It would help if anyone had ever heard of markdown, I think. Yet another flippin markup language is not what the web needs :(
Anyway, according to wikipedia: To force a line break, insert two spaces at the end of the line.
Ha. It's because I apply slightly different filters to different fields. The mana cost field recognises letters even without braces, that kind of thing.
I try to encourage people to use Markdown rather than HTML, although the Markdown library I'm using also accepts a limited subset of HTML. I guess I could apply it to the name field too.
The most important thing is to filter out custom scripts / CSS from user-supplied content. There should be nowhere on Multiverse where you can submit the text
> < script >alert("Boo!") script >
and have a JS dialog pop up. So I need to be moderately canny in how I do things.
The name is supposed to display in three lines, like in the history. Why do \
tags only work in some fields?
I thought this would be a great name to have in an Un-set, like Our Market Research.
added line breaks
I found a notepad with some of my very first card designs on it. Here they are, without any changes.

This eventually became Mighty Jagrafess.

There are so many things wrong with this, I don't even know where to start. It's funny: people screwing up WUBRG is one of my big pet peeves now.
