Correcting wording- sacrifice ability should have capitalization at the beginning of the effect, 'when ~ transforms' -> 'when this permanent transforms into ~'
Unbound synergy is the point here, FYI
Corrected wording 'of your upkeep gain 1 life'->'of your upkeep, you gain 1 life', 'while you have more life than any opponent'->'as long as you have more life than an opponent' source Feudkiller's Verdict, Akki Underling
Very pushed for common. Could be just creature I reckon.
I think it's a good wording. It's intuitive and straightforward, just weird ruleswise, so as long as it works I think it's good. Card seems weak though, I don't see you getting more than three mana on average with this and with delay and sorcery speed casting and triggering, that's pretty bad. Maybe add draw a card on ETB? May clause seems pretty redundant as well.
I did have some uncertainty about how to word it. There may be a better way to word it.
Reduce complexity, and lines of text.
@Brainpolice Pretty sure your're right about copying pushing it to rare. Could be done though
Does the use of "your discovery increases" feel weird to you? I guess its a simpler way to write it than it normally would.
Viable replacement for Level Playing Field? Or rather, some kind of rare enchantment that rewards you with mana acceleration for your Discovery.
The wording on the first side should probably be Banishing Light style 'exile target creature until ~ leaves the battlefield'. Shorter and works more intuitively.
I think it'd be cool to take this concept and apply it to WU, with the 2nd side actually outright copying the creature. That might push it to rare though.
@Brainpolice I don't think that's a problem at all. We have seen not-landfall landfall before. As long as we don't have more than about five cards, it's not a concern for me.
I'd rather see a card with this ability with a somewhat lower P/T and somewhat lower cost. I understand that it's just a common, but the playability factor is low at such high cost.
Isn't this ability more blue than red? The only thing particularly tieing it to red seems to be it being based on Discovery. The Yawgmoth-esq exile clause is nice.
It works, though it is basically a landfall card now without the keyword.
Fits the flavor of Xibal nicely.
This is actually identical to the way I reformulated the card in a recent card contest post, except I made it uncommon. The power level is pretty variable though, that is an oddity about it.
Maybe one way to get more to the point would be to change it to this:
"Exile the top three cards of your library. Until end of turn, you may play cards exiled this way. You may play an additional land this turn." (or some other wording that lets you play any lands exiled).
The idea is to basically have an Act On Impulse that doesn't potentially make exiled lands go to waste - you can both play a land on your turn before casting it, and play lands that it exiles from your library.
