I know that was your point in making them. I just don't agree that it's necessary. That said, I'm pretty sure I can't fly these cards by the 'panel' unless everyone likes them, including you, Link. So I'm going to give a few of these cards an extra go.
@Link: Banshee, Pestilence, Dead Reckoning and Corpse Lunge disagree. I'm sure I could find more if I bothered to look.
If she's a mythic, and needs 3 colours to be more than French vanilla, she should be square stats. Also if she's a mythic with both evasion and a tap ability she should have vigilance.
Apart from that, I like it. Fun take on a 4-colour commander. Either ability is useful, and they have nice synergy.
Mmm, yes, we could do a card with a activation to Lightning Helix/Essence Drain, but that's not quite the terms of this cycle :) Maybe at rare or in the second set though?
Nobody is allowed to bring up Hornet Sting ever. :-P.
Black only deals damage while gaining life from it.
To me, attaching all auras should be rare. If this just stole one aura per activation, I'd like it a lot better for uncommon.
The whole point of the cycle was to strive to make the activation color do something the casting colors both like to do also, or more accurately, something it can do that those colors can only do together.
I can see tournament decks liking this, in the same way they liked Liliana of the Veil.
White does this: Glamer Spinners, Kitsune Mystic. Black certainly doesn't, though. Green would be my next colour for it, putting this in the slot for a creature with a activation. On the other hand, it does feel odd for a white creature to be grabbing all the funky stuff for itself; the ability has a little selfishness to it, which is black. Hmm.
This is indeed pretty unique. Comparisons are Thundersong Trumpeter, Whipgrass Entangler and Netter en-Dal at common, and Martyred Rusalka and Droning Bureaucrats at uncommon; plus some more "rule-setting" cards like Kulrath Knight, Gwafa Hazid, and Windborn Muse, mostly rare.
It does have definite elegance. Strong contender.
It would be more sensible. That's why I chose not to do it. More interesting this way, if you ask me.
If you need the justification, black is secondary when dealing direct damage. It's green that should be questioned as tertiary. I hate to bring up Bee Sting. At least fight doesn't feel so icky.
Ignorant and naive, to the very end!
But, yes, I do expect this name to change in the flavor stage. It's a pity that we've dragged that particular word through the mud... but I guess English needed a word to express something crude, and 'fetish' was just hanging around, not doing much.
To be honest, I don't see a real need for the center activated ability to be Red, Green and White. I mean, I agree that it shouldn't be contrary to those colors' philopsophies. But it's not like cards like Drowned were poor flavor-wise, because blue has nothing to do with regeneration. At least, that's my take on it.
So, yeah, green likes token creatures, and so does white. Red... I'd probably call it third when it comes to token creatures (it sure does like a good horde...) I'm sure that's an arguable claim, though. I just don't think whether it's true or not makes the card more or less interesting. I'm pretty sure this combination of colors can do this, without really thinking too hard about it. That's good enough for me.
Whether it fits in Aer, though, is a more important question. It turns out that the token producing color in this block is probably black (due to the sacrifice theme). I like the card concept, but it's probably best saving it for another set, true.
Rare--> uncommon, as was originally intended (though rare is likely best)
I get that it's sort of green because of the similarity to fight, but I don't really see the black.
I guess blue and red both get discard, sort of.
You know people are going to take "fetishist" the wrong way, right?
I don't really see what's red about this. It would have been nice in RtR block as a Selesnya creature, but I don't know if it fits in Aer.
Reminds me of Bruna, Light of Alabaster, which is Mythic Rare. Of course, a similar ability is seen on Simic Guildmage. I think this might be more sensible if it only moved one aura.
That said, this isn't really something either black or white does mechanically, is it? But it does seem like something they might like to do philosophically, and for different reasons.
Added Aeran Netmaster, Glutton for Absolution, Viashino Fetishist, Arc Witch and Communal Protector to the list. I'll have to come back tomorrow and beef up GB or BR. Also, we talked about how Unslip the Soul could change colors, and it still could move to black-red. Funny... it feels as right to me in black-red as it must have felt for Link in B-G. Maybe it just belongs in mono-black. It don't seem right there... but neither does Murder...
Tough. I really just wanted to have the creature be a 5/1, and have the activated ability grant trample. That's more for common, though. I don't think I've seen this ability play out quite like this... though I assume there must be some Maro for creature tokens out there.
Okay, not simple. And almost not unique. Red deals damage. Big whoop. I probably would have dug deeper, but I like the idea of what this deck would look like.
