A letdown?
I don't know if G/W Serra is a let down for some people. The message it sends is interesting, though.
Hmm... Trample, Flying, Vigilance? Too much? Maybe some cheap activations?
Gain Vigilance,
gain trample?
Sounds like a consensus to me. Edited to a reprint of Cage of Hands. Activated ability used to read "
, Sacrifice Tie in Ribbons: Return an enchantment card from your graveyard to your hand."
I really wasn't sure how to reword Bud, bud. The previous version wasn't right, though, that's for sure. So, maybe this is the best way to do it? Gonna be weird if we ever end up with a creature with "Bud, bud, bud, bud."
I think this means we have a consensus. Jack's current suggestion is better than the thing we like better, but isn't better for the set. Switching the cards over.
Makes sense. Done.
Heh. I'm starting to really dig responding with "I'm cool with development figuring that out." I think the problem that this might end up too much like Tempest is a real consideration. But we've got more anti-flying than any previous set, ever, and if you did the math, you'd probably find that we only have a little more flying than Onslaught (you know, bird tribal?)... which sure didn't feel like Tempest.
So, yes, it's certainly possible. But I don't think we should be altering our choices based on what might be broken before we test it to see if it is. Especially since most of our problems could probably be solved by adding the word "Reach" to one card, and pushing another anti-flying card a little harder.
Sure, changed to
. There's too many cards in the file that cost
, but there's probably too many that cost
, too.
I think there's a point where I should probably let development handle this stuff anyway, true.
cc is probably right on target. Or at least, Marisi's Twinclaws seem to suggest so.
This seems an obvious combination for RW at some rarity. I made it a bit bigger to distance it from Tel Eria Guardian.
I plucked a name at random that sounded like other Aer names to me, but Link and Alex are better at coming up with nice Aer names than I am.
I'm not sure about the P/T cost combination. 5 felt expensive, but 4 felt too little for the equivalent of 4+ power of evasion.
But does it have to be? Even if proper names aren't reused between planes, I think concepts and creature types are; I don't know exactly what a lawmage is, but it seems like something that could evolve separately, and fits the flavour of the Aer. (It seems this is the only card it's mentioned on, though "lawmage" is used elsewhere to describe Azorius)
But certainly, a functional reprint or a similar card (maybe with conditional hexproof) would be equally good.
Hm. Good point, Serra Angel is apparently OK for uncommon. I feel disappointed I didn't need to design something more new, but SA certainly fulfils the role.
Add vigilance. Was "aer elemental"
Add vigilance
Why not "Aeran Angel?" Could have vigilance and be a gw Serra Angel.
We could do a functional reprint, but a Lawmage is a specifically Azorius thing.
This could also do Naturalize: see Wear // Tear.
The creature types and flavour happen to match, this could be a reprint from Ascended Lawmage in RtR, or something similar.
I agree, hexproof is too good, but wizards are still using it. And one thing that makes multicolour flying splashy at uncommon is a good way of breaking stalls such as a good way of getting 3 damage through a turn.
