Ha, ignoring any bad interactions with existing cards, I just realized that letting it target itself made a really ridiculous combo with Manipulating Wires. Oh well!
Decided this was a choice reprint to serve the pseudo-Sunburst mechanic found on cards like Heptra Illuminad and (((Guide of the Illuminated Path))).
While I won't be using Sunburst, this type of mana-color counting mechanic will appear on cards in the

wedge.
What kind of shenanigans can be pulled with Gideon's Avenger? I don't see anything terrible, unless my intent is to infinitely tap-untap Tidepuller until I can Phthisis the Avenger for lethal.
It's almost a pity it ended up in an artifact set... kind of makes people think it has to be on artifacts. I would have loved to see sunburst on colored permanents.
I miss sunburst.
That is one wacky Overrun.
I note that Unbender Tine did say "another".
You know, I'd cite 3 or 4 cards in Magic's past that really didn't care about the fact that it could untap itself. Tidewater Minion specifically leaps to mind. But that Gideon's Avenger reference makes me question my own wisdom. It's possible that a post-Lorwyn world shouldn't allow that sort of easy interaction anymore... not sure.
You should probably specify "another target permanent" in order to prevent shenanigans, such as with Gideon's Avenger.
P/T! P/T!
Missing p/t.
The previous Overrun bonus was a bit of a blowout. This is still serious though.
Needed a spicier sacbot and wanted it to fit the bird theme. Blend of Spiketail Hatchling and Spiketail Drakeling.
Nor casting the Subverter and then the Kalmia...
Removed the toughness bonus. It is an aggro card after all.
