It's quite plausible that Wizards will at some point print a
drain spell (I guess they already did with Death Grasp). I kinda hope they don't - I'd like damage-and-lifegain to stay either
or mono-
- but I suspect they will eventually. So yeah, I guess the first effect fits your hybrid aim. It's better now it says "tapped" rather than "attacking".
The second... I don't really know. It's got enough riders on it and the odd library location rather than destruction that I don't know quite where in the pie it is.
I acknowledge your concern over on Elemental Charm.
Call me old-fashioned, but it's not a charm. It's just a basic modal spell. Charms need 3 abilities, and this ain't it.
I actually saw these effects as things that could theoretically be either
or
. Red's token copy effects are normally temporary, like Splinter Twin, but I thought with blue it could permanent. Green is so creature-focused it seemed like the second ability could make sense as
.
I know they aren't truly charms. The names are just whatever sprang to mind at the time. Maybe I'll add a third ability, but probably the name will just change.
Interestingly, my goal with the cycle is to have both options be something the primary color could theoretically do alone, which is stronger when combined with either of the other two colors. I saw both abilities as things that could be costed
or
. You're right that the attacking restriction makes it too white, though, I guess.
That first ability is currently mono-white. If it didn't say "attacking" creature then it'd be either
or mono-
. But I think you're trying to use it as the
option, and it's not
.
It's not actually a charm, though, because there are only two options. I fear you'll either need a third option (something
like Pit Fight, maybe?) or to change the cycle name.
A
effect and
effect - I like it. That's a really nice way of making hybrid charms. I think you should switch the order though, so that they match that of
.
Personally, I think the idea of forcing an Elder God to step on a bunch of marbles before I Neck Snaped him to be pretty funny.
Usually; not always. Sometimes you're close to a win yourself and a turn of tempo is all you need. Does seem a pretty niche consideration though.
Hm. But if you're taking a hit from an Eldrazi, aren't you going to lose even if you can avoid the annihilator sac for one turn?
I actually made this win the idea that they would be fodder for annihilator.
Rather than have worthless artifact tokens, it might be worth having it ETB with X counters, and allow you to sacrifice artifacts to get more counters.
Mostly yuck; but I guess kinda abusable with cheap artifacts?
It's also a horribly trivial way to activate metalcraft and affinity; but those were already horrible broken mechanics, so I guess that's ok.
I think we normally use "frobble" to mean Index effects as on Information Dealer. But I guess "draw a card, then put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library" would count too. It means a means of tweaking the specific cards you have without netting any card advantage. Scry is probably broadly a subset of frobbling.
I kinda ignored the draw cards option assuming it was like Izzet Charm or Azorius Charm, but actually, yow, yes, that is very good. Under standard costing an instant See Beyond would cost
, so getting it for
is pretty tasty. It's comparable to Brainstorm, which is too good to print these days; would it be too good at
? Mmm, probably not.
So this is a charm composed of two good 2-cost effects and one good 1-cost. Can that get away with being 2-cost itself? Perhaps, if you're wanting to push it for constructed.
Cycle includes this, Wind Charm, Shadow Charm, Flame Charm, and Earth Charm.
Perhaps the last ability is more powerful than I thought. I see it as a summarized See Beyond.
That card draw is pretty good, too. I would probably play this card without the other two options, assuming my deck wasn't chock full of looting. Inspiration then put your silver bullet/extra combo piece/superfluous land on the bottom of your library for
? Yes, please.
It's Negate, not Remove Soul.
What's a frobble? Is Ponder a frobble? Or Sea Gate Oracle?
Unsummon + Remove Soul? I guess they go together pretty naturally. Not entirely sure what the cost of a cantrip frobble is, but this seems like a lot of good options for only half a mana more than the cheapest.
