Hm. Good point this could be green. I think Vorthos says it's green -- green's always had a much bigger "bring in line with nature" urge. But Melvin says it's red -- green can destroy artefacts and lands, but there's no particular reason for that rather than any other combination of non-creature permanents.
I don't think it's unbalancing because, as you say, it will affect almost no cards :) But think wizards avoid breaking the pie whether it's for balance reasons or not -- Maro hated Hornet Sting even though it was weak.
Planeswalkers too, I guess, but red's always been allowed to shoot those in the face.
I'm kinda surprised we didn't see something like this in the set after Eldrazi, actually. Would have been a good way to bring them back under control.
I don't think this is really going to break the pie that often. I mean, how many colorless enchantments are there? That's really the only thing red shouldn't he allowed to destroy.
I've seen people give green this ability, for similar reasons. It seems more appropos there, imho, off the premise that green 'likes color'. But red seems to work, too. I suppose you could always paint it as "Red being insulted by a lack of passion".
Also, stop trying to make Moonlace relevant. :)
Lol. Yeah, that's perfect. I don't THINK it would be printed for pie reasons, but I'm not sure.
Plus, if the sift fails; at least you KNOW you were gonna be completely boned - but now you're not because you sifted past it.
After looking at your comparisons, the effect probably needs to cost
, since 2cmc ramp is no longer available to colors other than green. Of course, there's always the chance that this will fizzle, so I feel like
should be okay.
I've tried to make the others, like Nylea's Chant, so that they would work well on an Overloaded spell. This doesn't do much with overload, though.
Nice name :)
The effect is very interesting. It's something like a colourless Rampant Growth, which is pretty strong - except it's not very likely to fix your colours. Or it's like an unpredictable one of Marble Diamond, Sky Diamond etc :)
Niiice. That's a cool Nekrataal. Normally it won't be worth using the Favor, but it fixes colour, and works with flash. Doesn't work with very much else (blink or copy doesn't work), as far as I can tell? But if there's some cheap flash creatures, that's worth it on its own.
Oh, I suppose this way is easier to reuse with Disentomb effects, too.
Hmmmm. So you can cycle it for
, or cycle it for
when you cast another instant. Which... is good if you'll be copying the instant with Mirari or any number of other things (especially Izzet Guildmage), I guess. Apart from that it doesn't really do anything; I can't see much reason to play this in Limited (unless the set has a load of Kiln Fiends or similar).
Because I made this really quickly before work and I wasn't thinking, probably.
