It's not just one guy - the general conclusion among MaRo and GDS2 contestants is that "looting" (draw-then-discard) can be red in flavour. I wanted it here because the defender trolls want to have some useful abilities, and they're only in green and red, and I've already got lots of pinging.
Good point. Fixed.
Ouch ouch ouch ouch OUCH. So many ways to make this hideous!
Mmm... blue gets that - unless you're following that guy in GDS2. Perhaps discard a card then draw one, to be more red?
Hahaha :)
You'll also want a number of poly-artifacts in set, which you don't seem to have, to give it things to connect to which don't already do better things for the cost of a tap.
EdiT: Oh, I suppos ethere's the equipment.
Hmm, good point. I may want to rethink this. Or perhaps make it happen on attacking rather than attack-and-not-blocked.
:)
That.. really shouldn't happen as often as it will.
Niiice. Suggested flavourtext: No creatures have protection from the Moustache.
I do like that - it looks good, then it looks bad and then you remember tokens and it's good again.
And this whole heirachy thing is making me want to find a way to give a cretaure less CMC than it has - which is some kind of a win for you.
Reshuffle every bit of equipment fairly cheaply? Nice!
"Make target opponent go: Ok, FINE. Re-equip THIS whispersilk, THEN that whispersilk THEN KILL THE DAMN THING ARGHLE"
Wonderful flavour - loathe the new mana cycles though.
3/5 fear and lifelink for 6 (with an unlikely) downside. Seems reasonable, if not for the fear part.
Um, is that intended to give the counter even if it's already tapped? This+Basalt Monolith seems.. hideous.
"Wait, if we make this aerodynamic, it could be pointy!"
Hat Dealer.
No need to explain :)
Oh, I like it. "Play green, go be stompy. GO ON! you know you want to!"
Ooh, steal opponent equipment for a while. Always fun. Shame that it'll be tapped and have already attacked when it has it, though.
I like it and, as you say, given the current power level of creatures this shouldn't be an issue
5/5 with some ability is completely standard for blue rare: see Keiga, the Tide Star amongst several other examples. The effect is pretty strong, I'll admit, but I think it's in line with the power level of current rare creatures. Actually, this could perhaps become a mythic, since I don't think this effect in this kind of repeatable form has been printed before.
I think the creature's mana cost is fairly irrelevant. 3 CMC is just where I think of creature counterspells as being: see Stronghold Machinist, Stronghold Biologist, Daring Apprentice. I guess the cost is a bit higher than on Voidmage Prodigy or Ertai, the Corrupted; perhaps I'll take it down to sacrificing one artifact. It's the kind of effect that could become seriously frustrating if it's too good though.
You think Animate Artifact was as good as this effect should get? But March of the Machines cost the same and did it universally...
That'd work, though that'd be even more wordy than the current wording...
Seems a bit too good for six; evading 5/5 is bad enough without the risk of how hideous it gets with trample.
Mmm... give it lure and laugh. A lot.
No I like this - they don't want to chump it, but if they don't you'll bounce the chump anyway AND hit them for 4.
"As an additional cost to cast ~, you may sacrifice any number of artifacts. Search your library for up to X artifact cards, where X is 1 plus the number of artifacts sacrificed this way"?
Yep, it's an artifact set, so a Shatterstorm is going to be useful. One that's slightly fiddly to cast (need a sorcery in graveyard) and costs 6 mana in order to not completely nuke the artifact decks.
