I like the card. However, it is a monster with Flashback, allowing me to shove 4x cards like Lingering Souls in my graveyard... It's like a Sorcery Entomb activation. I thought it would be crazy with Madness as well, but, since you restricted yourself to sorceries only, the best I could come up with was Psychotic Haze, which happens to have good timing with the -1/-1 removal trigger. Not really scary... just a nice option. It's also really good with Call to the Netherworld, but that's not normally a powerful card, so again, I don't think Madness is a problem.
Um; at one point it only had a blue activation ability; so I put black in the mana cost. This card is nine shades of messed up ;)
There's a reason they didn't do "All sorcery cards have transmute", let alone transmute
.
Also, what's up with that mana cost?
Essence Funnel does indeed seem to grant some weird inbetween of Transfigure and Transmute. Turning that into Transmute is fair enough. Turning it into P/T flip would be, uh, a bit confusing.
How about moving the -1/-1 removal away from the trigger into the two activated abilities? (You might want to make the black one grant something other than infect if you do that; infect on a 5/5 is a bit good.)
...why didn't I just go for the old "Flip power and toughness" meaning of transmute? Would have made life so much easier - and it's even a classic blue ability!
rename in order to further shorten card
cut down wording of search in reminder text; I'm willing to remind people of what transmute does; but not searching. And cut out the target; as it's no longer needed to balance removal of -1/-1 counters which is on a different ability now.
co-alesce two clauses; I know this changes what happens when you cast a
spell; but frankly... good.
Shrewd Hatchling + Essence Funnel
Ok, an unblockable 2/2 that grows up to 6/6, and "Every one of your creatures can be Transmuted from play"
Well, the transmute ability is Dimir, and essence funnel is black; and the hatchling is izzet I think; so let's go with a
card.
Could make transmute the trigger for a growing creature? Could just go with Transfigure... but I think we'll go the most direct combination; doing nasty things to transmute to make it target in order to stop it being instantly paid off and letting it transmute any sorcery. Annoyingly, the card now comes across as "Mad panic! Scramble for the right card while making this big again!" Which is reddish. Ah well; one of the source cards was red; blame that.
Also sooo many words! Making it rare as a punishment.
Well, it is game breaking, but I have to admit that you'd need a 3 card combo to get "
: Gain Hexproof", so yeah, maybe it's fine.
Hence my keeping the activation cost; rather than going with the 'no activation needed' newer variant. A combo that sets you up for "
:2 life" isn't that devastating; considering most combos end in "Win the game".
I think next time I make a set (Oh, I do hope not) there'll be a cycle of these, for various creature abilities. And blue will have a creature ability.
I wonder... can you gain something you already have if it's non-cumulative? I think you can... and if so, this plus Ring of Evos Isle would gain you 2 life for every
you can pay every turn. If you can find a way to grant Hexproof for
, this card goes nuts.
Ivory Cup + Half-Armoured Walker + I really really want to punish hexproof. (This probably doesn't go far enough; but I didn't want to be too powerful a combo with your own equipment)
Æther Membrane + Embark Recruitment
Inspired by comments about creature type 'ling' as in 'Broodling' and 'Zergling'.
I think... um. I have no idea. Uh... yeah. I think I just took the "Do it more!" part; but I'm, confused. Even looking at the other card named Adrenal Glands doesn't help.
Not sure I see where Adrenal Glands went. The ability has ended up pretty similar to Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar.
...or there's an odd number of creatures; I'm not templating this one.
Bloodshot Cyclops + Righteous Wrath
Hmm, you know what? Let's go with a green-style wrath effect.
Strategic Planning + Adrenal Glands
I can see an obviously powerful creature here. Let's give it a downside.
The entrancer has a way of slipping it through unexpectedly, though. If they control even one creature (and, well, they do) then it can block this and probably kill it and get them all back. Now, sure, adding evasion to this is natural and normal - but the end of control when this is bolted balances that, maybe? You're probably right about mythic though; it's got a lot of words, most of them good :)
Ugh. Just realised how abusable this is in multiplayer. Ok; needs a rethink (or at least 'target creature they control'; let's pretend I worded it that way)
Ending up pretty similar to Spectral Bears.
Yikes! Riptide Entrancer at least asked you to sacrifice it. I suppose Beguiler of Wills doesn't. Which makes me think there's a reasonable argument for making this mythic.
Doh. Tempted to explicitly make it 0/1 to match the other thieves now. But no, let's go 1/1
Interesting, especially since it has no power to deal damage with.
