Because I'd wanted to link that card in a comment somewhere else, and I forget its name, so I looked up its code then to enter in a link of the form
(((-C
L05)))
. Then I misremembered the code now. They've flipped form being common to basic and back far too many times for me to keep track of. Will fix. But how on earth did you know the 05 part without knowing the other bit?
Bah. Your basic lands don't have basic land codes. (CL05).
Buuhh. Pretty odd flavour. The dwarf is imbuing himself into the hunting net?
Um, what's bl05 meant to be?
Yeah, it was good - but not overpoweredly scarily so. Hoorah!
I drafted this fairly highly, because I wanted to play it. I had 2 of this, 3 Deepest Delvings, and a (CL05), in a red-black deck - which meant I only had 6 mountains, and often ran out pretty quickly. At which point this becomes useless (and fodder for saccing to Dwarven Miner or (CL05) to get back my Tunnel Skeleton).
So far this seems as I'd suspected: this is good, perfectly playable, but nowhere near overpowered. It's certainly no Thawing Glaciers. It might be a bit good in formats with Steam Vents and Taiga, admittedly.
Actually; maybe this should be where scary mask gets its comeuppance.
Equipped creature is an Artifact creature with +1/+0 and reach?
Hmmm. Ish. It means they need to 2-for-1 trade with a creature plus this or Soul Channel. Or I need to time things right with one of these plus a first striker.
Quite some time ago; the last time you pointed out craft was really really weak.
Hah! at least I'm not the only one who doesn't read the cards I'm drafting :)
Hmm, you could make it an Earthquake-alike: "~ deals X damage to each creature". Flavour text "I just let a little bit of lava out..."
Will reword more sensibly later. Maybe.
Doesn't really scratch the itch. I have quite a strong feeling that X spell = sorcery (even despite Heat Ray as the exception, perhaps proving the rule).
Wanting some reach = good. Making a card that does nothing except give reach = bad.
Actually, given DF's emphasis on crafting masterwork weapons and armour made from the best metals you can forge, there's definitely room for some more in-universe-flavoured equipment.
Yes, I'd say so.
BTW, conventionally there's a comma between those symbols in activation costs. See e.g. Imperious Perfect or Graven Cairns.
...Wait, craft draws you a card? When did that happen?!
I have 3 cards in hand: a land, a mineral, and a 1/1. By the time I've crafted haste onto the 1/1, I've given up both the other cards.
People are more likely to try playing them, and discover the interesting upsides and downsides to the mechanic, if they're erring on the more-powerful side. As it is, people leave them in sideboards so we don't know if they're good or not.
Ha! That's a nice approach.
name, with pun. Flavour text.
clarify 'from anywhere'
clarified as anywhere
A few overall notes:
Mmmm... that makes the 5/5 stompies a little too close to utterly unkillable though.
Guhhh.. I was thinking about limiting it! (Making it "Discard, or sacrifice, a land") Also: the majority of this cycle is semi symmetric. I guess red gets to do its own thing though.
Yeah, it needs some limitation. The set's getting quite light on instants though. Maybe require at least one land sac?
This is good. I enjoyed playing with it. The restriction to creatures-only is very sensible.
As a variation of Blaze, though, it should probably be a sorcery. It felt wrong to be able to cast this at instant speed.
This is exceedingly strong, but some mythics are meant to be. If Wizards were going to print something like this, they'd probably give it flying or haste as well. (But don't.)
I like the mechanic of this. The extra wackiness won't usually apply, but it does against e.g. Reader of Entrails.
But 5 damage is too much for common and too much for 3 mana. Take it down to 4 and keep the cost the same.
This was an interesting tweak on Reassembling Skeleton. I like it. It's not overpowered.
