I kinda like the idea of "This land? It's a strip mine now"
But yeah, it's probably too good.
was named 'misdirection'
Was: Target attacking creature blocks another attacking creature of your choice.
Well, you can still equip, sac, equip on second creature, sac. But that doesn't seem wholly unfair - you can use it to finish an opponent off; you can't (without lots of land draw/recursion) use it every turn to annoy your opponent to death.
sac land for intimidate, rather than always having it
I suspect the rules don't like this unless you gain control of the target UEOT.
Hey-hey, it's an Aura with pretty much perfectly accurate templating! :P
Hah. The ACC probably does want to cost some mana too. See Raze and Boom // Bust.
But good call on adding a land-destruction spell.
While it is definitely rather weak, it's not just that. It's now a frustrating card in that you may draw it when you need a land, but can't tap it for mana without some other black. It doesn't even tap for colourless.
Ooh. Yeah, 1-cost 2-equip "Sac a land: ~ gains intimidate UEOT" is good. Amongst the ways it's clever is that you can't do tricks like with Diviner's Wand or suchlike and use it to grant intimidate to multiple creatures like some versions of this would do.
Ok, for now - let's just get rid of the lifeloss and the first strike. See what happens.
Might need to swap this with the black one.
2r->3r
Yup. Possibly to weak now, may play more.
BURN THE CAT.
Uh, yeah. I didn't really realise that.
Suggested fixes then:
Have the creature sacrificed at EOT? That gets fiddly if you move it onto another creature.
Have the scariness activated rather than always-on; perhaps by land destruction?
This now means you have this and Porcelain Cat both at 3-mana red common first strike. Before there was Tunnel Runners at 2CC, the Cat at 3, and this at 4. Are you planning to just ditch the Cat entirely? Or bump it up to 4 mana to become a Halberdier reprint?
reduced casting cost by one, added activation; it's still a good finisher.
This card is certainly one of the chief contributors to land sacrifice. But thing is, in-set that means a lot more than in many sets. It brings back Tunnel Skeleton, opens you to risk from Soul Channel and Demon of Armok, and so on.
Personally, I'd find this card more appealing if the casting cost/p/t came down a step, and an activation of or so was added. I assume that this card, as written, will cause more frowns than smiles. I can imagine someone doing 'the right thing' by blocking with this creature and sacrificing 3 lands, only to watch their opponent drop another 7/7. Whether or not it was the right play, that can be really frustrating. Keeping this in common and letting it happen all the time... even more so.
This definitely does need a cost of some kind though. I agree or are the best options. Even is very good.
Actually, this new version is really harsh. You can't even tap it for mana unless you have another source of out!
