Alex, are you sure about that? It makes sense, but I thought there might be a chance that even if the effects are applied in order, the first ability would still react to the application of the Melody-clause as the spell resolves.
@Pentad - Even if this worked as intended, your hyperbole seems misplaced. Powerful cards exist, and considering that this doesn't grant trample or any other evasive quality, I can't imagine that this is remotely as powerful as something like Overwhelming Stampede. In your imaginary scenario, how are you accelerating into 5 mana worth of spells while still having 4+ unblockable creatures?
Hm. It actually looks like the abilities are in the wrong order. Everything becomes rainbow just too late to get +5/+5 from it.
It's actually very similar to Shriekmaw. Alternatively, Second Thoughts; "draw a card" is the same card advantage as "get a 3/3 flyer" but obviously worse, which is what the rarity jump (and exile->destroy) gets you, I guess.
Um. Boom much? I nominate "Giant growth" as the other spell, in a mono green stompy trample deck. This looks like a (hang on, I'm green, carry the mana elf...) turn 4 win every time I draw it?
Fair enough, and he's also able to take out most support creatures this way. (Guilty by association! To the sky with you!) I'd still usually want to save him - Reading this as "White removal at 5, with a free flying creature token" makes it look a lot better than reading it as "Overpriced flyer, that kills a thing"
He's white, so being an Assassin isn't very appropriate. I'm not even sure I want it to destroy tapped creatures, I just didn't like the idea that you would essentially be forced to play this guy during your opponent's attack phase. And Gideon Jura suggests white can still get Assassinate sometimes.
I'd name him Assassin, for the ability. Pricey, but good. "Take out your entire attack in one combat trick" good, so probably worth the cost; but nasty to have to keep five mana open. Seems about right to me, therefore.
The Magdar/Minotaur/Red creatures are in a transitional phase as I'm eliminating an Equipment/Flash subtheme that they used to have. Currently aiming for a more traditional Monored Aggro ideal, and Ashmouth Hound was always an overachiever in DII.
For each sword - sword!
(I like swords)
Seriously though - firstier strike 1, only on attack. Nicely aggro.
Changed triggered ability to an activated ability.
