Because this is a set in progress and I happened to design a cycle of rare equipment.
Thank... you... for... your... pedantry...
Tap ... symbol ... always ... goes ... before ... text ...
Obviously this should be an equipment, not a creature. Anyway, this set has 5 rare equipment why?
Really?
Really?
Try casting this as the first spell in a turn. You only choose one target. (Refer to any of the various potentially multi-targeting kicker spells to convince yourself this is true.)
Then cast another spell in response. When Hymn to Hatred resolves, it requires two targets ... but only one was chosen!
"Intentional complication" ... ?
Each opponent no speak-a english good.
So you can sacrifice opponents' lands now? Good to know.
When subject verb not agree, it make Magic card here!
Ye eld enchentment ...
T-W-O damage, eh?
It would seem precedent suggests that this is fine in theory. Only playtesting can discern whether the cost or effect might need changing.
Creeping Mold was always playable, but never exciting. Like Break Asunder. This kind of effect at 5 mana is Rootgrapple, which was an instant and conditional cantrip. This is a conditional double-cantrip, so I guess perhaps it should be 5 mana as well, even though that does feel dispiritingly expensive.
I try my best not to create any "strictly better than" designs, but my thought process in this case is that Creeping Mold existed pre-Planeswalker. That it also has Melody? Well, it could perhaps use an additional colorless mana.
Rootwalla'd.
Ha, yeah, I don't think I thought through the math on this little guy. Considering it's a Rootwalla, it could probably use the "Activate this ability only once each turn" clause.
It feels important that there be a number of traditionally narrow spells that players will experiment with in order to more efficiently enable Melody (and Resonate) effects. Hopefully this fits the bill.
Changed wording again.
Much better wording, thanks!
It's gone through a lot of revisions, and that it doesn't work very well in multiplayer is intentional, as I really didn't think EDH needed another quality tutor.
However, one concern is that it's secretly Infernal Tutor, in the sense that casting it "hellbent" results in the same effect. I'd be curious if LED decks would prefer this, even though it reveals more information.
Wow. That's one terrifying Giant, but it does cost 7 mana and need you to have cast an off-colour instant/sorcery, so I guess it's fine.
I love it. Beautifully simple and synergistic effect to pair with Rhythm.
That's quite a Creeping Mold. Probably reasonable though.
Wow, that is berserk. Turn 2 this, turn 3 attack with a 16/1 trampler. 32/1 if I had a Llanowar Elves on turn 1.
Hmm. The ability will cause a lot of people to frown when they realise it gets bigger just too late to make any use of it. It's obviously good with first strikers or burn spells; more subtly, it's also good with painlands and suchlike. But it's a bit too antisynergistic with "attack with lots of dudes" for me to be happy with it as a mythic.
