I forgot to say, nice choice of name too!
As far as I know, the middle ability is original, at least in this exact wording. It comes from a lineage of cards that count creatures and draw cards, though.
The final ability draws inspiration from Snakeform and Biomass Mutation.
Rosewater says white should probably be the worst at card-drawing, but "for each attacking creature" very much fits with building an army, not just sitting back and waiting to draw removal, so it seems to fit very well. My first thought was more "is this ok in U" not "is this ok in W" :) It's a lovely U/W charm, and I like how it feels skynight-y more than just genericly UW.
Yeah, I think the WG effect is much better at +2/+2, although I could still tweak the other effects to be stronger or weaker to match.
I'm really unsure how strong these effects are, actually, I couldn't find many spells with those effects alone for comparison.
I think sorcery-speed-trample is a separate effect to instant-speed-trample, and one that's less useful so rarely used, but one that deserves to exist sometimes, as it does have a definite affect on the board. But if it's weaker than the other two modes, I would ideally balance it out somehow; "destroy target artifact" can be any speed, but fight is often confusing as an instant, I wonder if there's any way round that.
Oh yes, I really like the middle ability. I was trying to think of something similar, but hadn't managed it. I think there have been several "card draw effects that key on creatures", but most of them scale -- this works a lot better on a charm because it's less swingy, and less bad if it doesn't work in some situations, because you still have the other modes.
Fascinating! Yes, that all looks good. I love the middle ability as a card-draw effect that's legitimate in both green and blue. I don't think I've seen it before - is it original? Interestingly the last ability was seen in hybrid before... on Godhead of Awe! But I think it's fine in
as well (there's Snakeform as precedent after all).
I made Clade Charm so that all the guilds would be represented.
Edited as per Alex's suggestion.
Very nice, and very different from Azorius Charm. I like it.
Added Aether Charm and Pain Charm. Someone still needs to do Simic. Hexproof is obvious, but what else...
no idea why I made this uncommon. if any charm is suitable for common it's this one.
OK, so far we have:
: Brute Charm
: Legion Charm
: Havoc Charm
: Firemind's Charm Experimental Charm
: Isperia's Charm Skyknight's Charm
: Health Charm
: Pontiff's Charm
: Forbidden Charm Mirko's Charm Secrecy Charm Sneaky Charm
:
: Rotten Charm Loam Charm
Plus Shiny_Umbreon's whole cycle on Challenge # 081
I am impressed at how the names are varied but all obviously appropriate, that can be one of the hardest bits :)
Turns out Shiny_Umbreon already made ten of these, which he listed over here.
Looking back at this a year later, I'd have to suggest "3 damage to target creature without flying".
Remind me to add OTB to the list of supported acronyms. There are several uses of it on Multiverse and it's clear and unambiguous.
three and a half. rakdos is crazy like that
That's slightly cheaper than Chaos has been before, but I'm sure it's fine. I'd like the story the card told better if the third ability was moved before the first one :)
Four modes?
Izzet-tastic!
Is the last ability meant to say "instant or sorcery spells", or is it assuming that copies of permanent spells produce tokens?
Second and third abilities are awesome. The second is technically pie-breaking in both
and
but ends up feeling spot on in
, which is quite an achievement (Mercy Killing did something similar). But that first ability... mm, I think that's a bit dubious for black.
Somewhat surprised that Selesnya hasn't been taken yet, I created Health Charm.
Then I wanted to make an Azorius charm, and although it's definitely not where I started off intending to go I ended up with Skyknight's Charm.
This is a recipe for confusing frustration on the part of anyone who picks up this card a couple of years after the set's released. Three non-evergreen abilities without reminder text on any of them?
