what is depowered? it's a secret.
a creature with depowered has base power 0 and can't be modified by other effects or counters.
It's certainly got precedent, in Unmake. Black also does get exile-based removal occasionally: Nemesis Trap, Sever the Bloodline, probably a couple of others.
I was thinking the first two abilities are nicely loam-flavoured, but the tutor one isn't. Pie-wise, I'm not completely sure black can get Recollect, though. I guess it got enchantment-return in Theros...
Nifty. A one-mana charm has to be weak but somewhat-useful effects, and this fits the bill well. It's a pity the trample-granting has to be sorcery speed because of the other effects as instant-speed trample is a solid option on a one-mana charm, but the other two do want to be sorcery speed in this case. Very nice job.
So that's a
pump effect, a
land animation, and
mass double strike? Looks pretty cool. My feeling is the (gw) effect is slightly weaker than the others, but it can't go bigger while remaining reasonably white, so... yep, looks good :)
And stretching the challenge a bit, a Selesnya/Gruul/Boros hybrid charm, (Horde Charm...
OK, lets try "exile target creature". Ideally that would have some restriction, as B normally just does destroy, and white normally doesn't get nonconditional creature removal, but I'm not sure what would fit. I think "exile target creature" is occasionally ok, though IIRC Rosewater doesn't agree... :)
Doh! I was a fool, I'm so used to typing "destroy target permanent" on any WB card I forgot I was supposed to be doing a hybrid. Oops :) Thanks for pointing it out. OK, that's going to change, not sure what to yet.
Also Pontiff's Charm and Loam Charm
I like the second two modes a lot, but it seems like the first really stretches the pie.
Amuseum and I managed to make
charms that weren't that similar.
Ooh, you're right,
is really hard. OK, let me see if I can make one with no overlaps :)
Sneaky Charm
@Jm, yes. There's really not that much
overlap in the end, something that Maro has commented about in the past. The same problem plagues
(worse, even, which explains why there are only 2 hybrid nonpermanent UR spell... one of which makes tokens): for example neither color pair share an evergreen primary mechanic (Strictly speaking, green hardly gets vigilance, but since no other color than white does, that's not a problem.).
Fair enough.
Legion Charm seems to fit quite well.
If this was for a proper cardset I'd have stuck with deathtouch. I feel the challenges allow me to get a bit more "crazy" and do something like use infect where's its mechanically but flavorfully justified.
Ugh, I was having a lot of trouble formatting the card (I almost used Strive at one point). I think the addition of the simple "you may choose a new target" fixes it.
Woah. That's a little crazy how close Forbidden Charm is to Mirko's Charm. I guess those are just the 3 obvious choices when making a Dimir charm that costs HHH...
I don't think I'd like infect in Ravnica, to be honest, but if it ended up in Golgari the third time around, I wouldn't bat an eye. It's the exact kind of linear mechanic that happens to feed into other linear mechanics (-1/-1 counters) that Ravnica really seems to like.
Pretty sure that causes a creature to change name X times, not X creatures to change each of their names.
