Amusingly, this is a reprint of Teetering Peaks :) It is indeed printable, borderline-playable in aggro decks.
? This isn't pure discard. This is looting, like on Cephalid Looter or Careful Study.
A land that loots is quite a lot better than a land that scries. This would definitely be played in tournament decks. But (assuming you fix the better-than-Island problem) it's probably printable.
(It'd be printable if it just ETBed tapped. Then it'd compare fairly well to Halimar Depths, but fine on a rare.)
Agh! Affinity! Burn it! Burn it!
Being serious; this is a VERY good Counterspell variant, strictly better than Cancel and making it common will seriously warp drafts.
I love it. But others will scream loudly.
I wanna run a five colour shrine deck!
Only problem is, I'm not sure I'd bother putting any spells into it; so who cares what colour the mana is?
But this fixes it, so I can run a Fireball or whatever to finish.
See comment on Shrine of Fury, this is risky - but +1/+1 is probably slightly less risky than +2/+0 so maybe safe.
This one's relatively scary - it might be ok, but would need watching.
For an aggro deck, this is almost like taking out a land and replacing it with an extra shock - except that you get the land on the next turn. Maybe the tempo loss is sufficient to keep that under control though.
That's a nice small benefit. I like this one.
Small Typo.
This is a VERY blunt instrument to nerf your "lands in graveyard are good" mechanic.
If the mechanic is completely dominant - then yeah, maybe. But you're risking "Oh, you're playing that in your deck. Well, I guess I'd better go home then." with such a broad hoser (which is, amusingly, useless against almost anything else.)
I'd suggest giving black a couple of creatures that consume cards from graveyards, instead of a blunt instrument like this. (Maybe "
, Exile target card from a graveyard: ~ gains +1/+1 UEOT" or something similar, like Nezumi Graverobber)
(For those not looking at other cards, Lavish is "Scry to graveyard")
Ooooh. Interesting. Brings land into play, and a bunch of plants come too. Combine with something to power up plants, and maybe make lands into creatures and you've got a very fun summoner here. Not sure what the name represents?
I'd suggest making this 4/4 just on general "It's mythic, they tend to be X/X in size" principles; not that it's a hard rule or anything.
Lavish is an odd name for an ability that, thematically, kills stuff. But this is a perfectly fine Birds of Paradise alternative; powering up, I assume, other stuff that cares about graveyards while usually being slightly weaker itself.
In fact, can I borrow the concept for my elves land sacrifice set?
Two side ntoes: 1. I'm excited by this set. I'm not sure what you're doing right - but keep doing it, you're doing something that makes me enjoy it and want to comment. 2. You might make use of the yellow button to tag some of your comments that you'd like answer to; that makes them appear on the site's front page to draw attention to them.
On to this specific card: A four mana artifact that taps to add a small elemental (is zephyr a creature type nowadays?) and draw a card. Probably wants to cost a bit to activate - pure "Draw a card" does, and this is better than that (though coloured and legendary) In addition - in the right deck; this is TERRIFYINGLY better than that. I can see once this hits the table every turn being "Draw a card, make an elemental, draw a card, cast a spell, draw a card..."
Which "I can wish" factor makes me think this could go mythic (and then the cost stops being an issue, stupid wizards)
Apart from empowering the terrifying rare shrine cycle, of course... Slight typo, I don't think even the comp-rules know how to attenuate
to your mana pool :)
Interesting twist on the "Play only as a sorcery" form of card discard. It's still VERY nasty though, assuming you can play multiple shrines. I think you've managed to build an almost land-only deck. (Maybe add a Sakura-Tribe Scout or similar.)
Anyway - ability is slightly too good (and pure discard lives more often in black than blue) but not much too good. Add an obligatory downside and call it baked.
Again - this is swamp+upside; so probably needs a downside of some kind. Steal one life a turn is a nice effect, about the right strength, not flashy but likely to turn a couple of games. I think that is about right for a land power. (Was 'when it untaps, target creature gets -1/-1 UEOT)
(It was "Deals 2 damage to target whatever whenever it untaps")
Well, it's now strictly better than a basic; so ought to ETB tapped, or some other downside. Other than that - a haste land? Sounds perfectly sane. (Given it's a haste land,. the downside probably shouldn't be ETB tapped, mind you. Just for the oddness of the flavour.)
changed it to be much more fun for shrine players!
