Any Thoughts on this Shrine creature?
Yes, this is nice.
Thank you alot Vitenka, i'm glad you like it. I was thinking of making some playtesting IRL with his. But maybe i could even be able to try it on some playtable with people here?
Cool, i thought it would play nice with white.
Yes i was aiming for the Zendikar common lands for this cycle. "with some changes"
Added a cost to produce Elementals.
It should be ETB yes, And YES Vitenka you might use it.
I wanted the toughness to be 1 lower, so that the card wouldn't be to powerful because the set is kinda low powered tbh except for some cycles. Don't want the card to take over by it self.
I wanted it to be one pure graveyard hate instant to sideboard against the Lavish theme. Because i think a card that could spam each turn would make Lavish cretures to bad.
Added Card draw to make this more intrestsing.
I like that you like it. Because i thought this card made the whole Shrine cycle very much fun.
fixed wording.
This is very similar to Stoic Rebuttal, which was also strictly better than Cancel. It didn't really warp anything and I doubt this will either (especially as it's hard to have three Shrines while also having double
).
Cancel is the baseline, but Wizards are happy to be strictly better than it from time to time. Dissipate was recently reprinted on that principle too.
Nice card! Delightful build-around-me for Johnny in draft or casual.
I think this would be templated like Reflecting Pool... something like:
> Shrines you control have "
: Add to your mana pool one mana of any type that a Shrine you control could produce."
(This will often be worse than Reflecting Pool, but that's really not a problem as that card was stupidly good in constructed alongside Vivid lands, pretty much single-handedly enabling some painful 5-colour control decks in tournaments. Being worse than Reflecting Pool is just fine.)
This is less blunt than Tormod's Crypt, or Relic of Progenitus. It's a very specific hoser with specific timing requirements too. I don't think people would like it even if they wanted to hose graveyards, so it might fail to excite the target audience.
I'd normally rather have Cremate.
Reminds me of Avenger of Zendikar. But rather than make the plants bigger it gets you some lands. Potentially quite a few lands if you've been using Arid Mesa and friends. I like it.
Does this mean "When ~ ETBs, lavish 2"?
This compares very favourably to Urza's Blueprints... except that this needs double blue to cast. This is like an Archivist with a Bitterblossom stapled to it, or a Honden of Seeing Winds with a Honden of Life's Web there too.
I think there should be an activation cost. At
,
it's still rather better than Scepter of Insight, even before you consider playing other Elementals.
I really like the card though. That kind of triggered ability is the kind of thing I love.
This is another reprint, Turntimber Grove.
