Changed to 1BB
Do you want it to be an easy splash? 'cause if you don,t insist on that, the set (at least what is currently uploaded) can probably accommodate another double black card, so

is an option.
See Mind Rot this card is way better then that. and even Mind Rot can be good in limited for say.
I think this card is fairly costed for an uncommon but is probably too much for common.
I think this is a beautiful thing.
Changed to charge counters.
@Raptor: Not all flavor can be perfect. The current design doesn't have perfect flavor but it's still very grokable.
@PA: Again I don't want to say this card is perfectly balanced yet, but you're underestimating how much of a drawback that is. Remember it's not that just one of the 4 is dead, it's always the first one. In your opening hand it's a virtual mulligan. Top decking it is a dead draw. Even if you have two, you're 2-for-1-ing yourself.
Think about it this way; even if you draw an average of 3 versions of this per game, you can only remove 2 creatures. There are plenty of times I can think of where having 3 removal spells, albeit worse, is preferable to having 2 stronger ones.
true.
No, even with 4 Snapcasters you only have 6 of these. This spell will not be in your graveyard when it's resolving after being flashed back.
The solution, clearly, is many more cards that use and play with tick counters :)
Do they cancel out tock counters, the way +1/+1 and -1/-1 cancel out? They should.
The problem is that a new counter is appropriate on a single Common. If it were a Rare the unique counter would be fine but as a Common it should conform to the rest of the set.
It reminds much of the scarrs of mirrodin card Dispatch but i am sure this is more powerful, just fill your deck with 4, and you have 3 exile target creature for
in your deck. And adding a Snapcaster Mage You have atleast 7 of theese :D
Lol I don't think you realize that I was the one that originally designed Sheriff's Warning. XD The main problem with it was explained very well by someone over on Mtgs. Basically, the problem with the flavor is that you could give the warning to one person and then punish someone else with the second one.
3/5s for 5 are the norm at common, and this is better than that.
Also, Archester features a race of dog people called Canid, so this is actually a humanoid dog not just a normal one.
Be prepared to revert if Naturalise turns out a bit too powerful. Surely there was a reason there was no low-cost Instant-Speed Naturalize in Mirrodin or Scars.
I really don't think there's any problem with using a counter type that no other card currently uses.
Admittedly this would be fine using charge counters, which are the default for artifacts unless there's a reason not to use them. Charge counters play nicely with Power Conduit, Energy Chamber, Coretapper, Surge Node and Vedalken Infuser.
But if you're deliberately avoiding charge counters, I think it's good to use an entirely new counter type rather than duplicating some obscure counter type.
The flavour is great as it is. It'd completely lose its flavour if it became "if it was already tapped". Raptor1210 seems not to get the idea, but the idea is the Sheriff will give one warning which doesn't do much (taps the target), but after that he gets mad (exiles the target). It seems great to me.
Could make it Time counters, as those are at least a currently used type.
Humm, still seems slightly overcosted to me. Hard to justify making even a pack of dogs 2/7 though. Flavourwise this had better be one stonkingly huge mechanical monster of a dog.
Well the point was to avoid using real world names, though I guess we've kind of abandoned that with Richard (Ferron). Still, I don't think Eldaveth is that hard of a name to say (el as in the letter L, da as in duh, veth as in beth), regardless. Let's see what everyone else thinks.
The way the card works now plays into the land death theme of black. Changing it to industry counters eliminates that interaction and makes the card more complicated.
I agree, any objections?
We already have a cycle of 3cc colorless producers which are all good so I'm not sure we need a sixth that's even stronger by also being removal.
I personally like this card just fine, so we'll see if there are any other opinions.
