Ah, but I didn't think the clause about the controller needing three attacking creatures (or all of his creatures being tapped) was so terrible on this card. I think, though, you may be trying to make the card cost
or more and that's what's tripping you up. If you aimed for a card that was strictly worse than Threaten, because it required you to have tapped creatures, you could then give it an aggressive cost of
or
.
I changed the wording, and removed the initial clause about only if three more more creatures are attacking, because it seemed odd.
I think this needs a clause about only casting on your turn... Maybe I should just give up and make it a sorcery.
I wasn't sure how to word that correctly, which is why I ended up with this dumb thing.
changed to 1/1 black minion
Minion is fine and would have backward compatability with the various minions from previous sets which is a good thing.
An alternative to the RR 2/2. I don't know if that's the slot to gun for, but "attacks each turn if able" just seems too obvious to ignore. Maybe on another card with firebreathing?
Ooh. Yeah. Tap that creature and it is now attacking seems much more appropriate. Cast after attackers, before blockers, of course...
Act of Treason could be funny in an "Everyone must attack" deck. Agreed. Also, I forgot to put a "This creature must attack" card in Red's file. That seems like a shoe in.
You know, that sounds like a good suggestion. I'll go with that.
An attempt at the Act of Treason variant that appears in basically every set. I tried to tie it in to the all-in mechanic, but I just ended up with way too many words. This card will see reworking.
You are correct, and I don't really like this card anyway. I'm not very good at designing red cards, because I'm just not generally interested in playing red. I made this because I didn't want more burn.
Maybe in this card's place could go the Act of Treason variant that seems to pop up in every block.
We were talking about Minions doing other things than being sacrificed, so I thought it would be appropriate to throw one in the file. Here we have a Minion forced to drag a chariot behind it, which makes me giggle a little...
Quite true.
Partially, I want black to be a little more linear, but also, sacrificing creatures isn't exactly new, and needs a twist. The fortifications are new, true, but using a Future Sight mechanic and saying it is new won't pick us up too many style points.
My first thought was to try a completely different architecture theme than you, to contrast it and see which one we liked better. It doesn't seem worth it, though. Fortifications are past due, and I'd like to work with them, so in the end I'd probably just end up scrapping whatever other idea I came up with.
Anyhow, if we make this "Minions matter" instead of "Sacrificing Matters" we can use these Minions for other things and it will fit into our play. Cards that say "Tap three untapped Minions you control: Do X" will fit right in.
I've been avoiding saying "sacrifice a minion" because I didn't want black to be too linear, but we could definitely go that way.
Due to server errors, two of this card accidentally got published, but I don't have authority to delete it.
A bit heavy on the top end, but we've been playing around with the rewards on the sacrifice. I want there to be at least one common that gives you an obvious reward.
I'm more okay with them if they're black. I mean, I prefer potentially offensive tokens, and I do wonder how a 0/1 can build a palisade, but I'm not going to fight too hard.
I know 0/1 has been contested, but they feel like peons to me. I like those tokens... Magic has very few 0/1s.
