What? Why shouldn't this be common? There are so many "whenever attacks" creatures at common, like Sabertooth Outrider for example. Yes, you need to know about the double check, but most of the time it should work out as you want it too, unless an opponent wants to use a pump/depump before to keep you from getting Apex, which is also a valid strategy.
