Um. No, this really isn't too good, at all. This would barely be playable at 1 mana. I mean, it's a fine card to exist in a set, most sets need some bad cards. But this is one of those bad cards.
It is amusing that this is secretly a hoser for the opponent's vanilla-matters. "Ha, thought your 4/4 was vanilla, did you? Well now it's not!"
I've seen worse. Quite a few worse cards, actually. But I don't think you should be comparing this card to those cards.
My problem isn't a power level concern. I just don't think an on the table boost is appropriate at common. It's the sort of ability that stops people from attacking in limited due to complexity creep. I'd suggest... maybe +0/+4 at sorcery speed? Assuming you wanted to keep the card similar.
I think is is probably fine for power level. It's reminiscent of Bone Splinters. It's always card disadvantage.
The problem is that this will encourage people to mana-screw themselves. If I have a hand with two of these, it's probably a trap to try to play them both until I've already got 4-5 lands on the table.
1) If I've got a 5/2 and a couple of 2/2s, and you've got four 2/2s, I have Apex but my 5/2 would really like evasion so as to not trade with a 2/2.
2) This won't be the thing giving you Apex, for the most part. This isn't "Rargh, I'm big and stompy and intimidating!" This is more like "My pal over there is big and stompy and intimidating, so I'm just gonna sneak over here while you're scared of him."
this is not modeled after Holy Armor, though I see the similarities now. Would +1/+1 and sac +1/+1 for all UEOT be too much for a Common Aura? Probably still quite crappy, but blue pump for all is not that prevalent anyway...
Yeah, when it got submitted I was skeptical too. I might change it into a 1/1 for that scries for 2 then digs for 2, so you got good chances to return a card, at least in the late game.
This is the card the LD deck was built around. LD is unfun, yes, but it just made sense to include at least a bit of it since the Set has a mechanic that cares about your lands. A bit indirect hate for that was sensible.
This card was kinda odd when it was submitted, since has no breeders and therefore not that many creatures without abilities. It looks like a strong finisher, but I doubt that you would manage to give more than 2 creatures flying, which makes it ok again.
Meh, you kinda want to be on curve if you want to start early feasting. This dies to basically everything, but that's ok, playing aggro is also using mindgames.
Well, we feared that the Vanillatheme could be too strong if you snag some Muraganda Petroglyphs and some not yet made variants of it, making your Vanilla dudes quite strong and fearsome, especially for colours who don't have enchantment removal. We might have overdone it though ;)
Yeah, this might either be made an UC or increased in CMC. The additional cost should factor in however, there really can be moments where you just don't have a basic land on your hand, which makes this card dead.
is the "big" feast archetype, it's only minor in as a supporting colour. You should be able to play two coloured decks, even without a lot of manafixing outside of . I'm thinking of adding some Manastones in UC to help with that, maybe even some tricolour lands if you want to go full on shard.
Why would you not want evasion? It could be killed in combat easily, which can lead to you losing Apex.
Menace is also viable, but I find intimidate so fetching on a dinosaur.
No, but it's like the vampires who keep on growing, you can put on the pressure and threaten early with a combat trick, or keep on pinging the opponent.
Not sure about it either, the problem is since it's shard based every colour is basically an ally. There is always one colour which is the least represented in an ability, so maybe this could be the dedicated "enemy".
Well, +0/+2 to all your creatures is a nifty trick - but only if they can't see it coming. As they can see it coming; it's more an annoying complication to the pre-combat maths.
But yeah - +0/+2 is kinda crappy for an aura. Even alpha's Holy Armor that I assume this is modelled after, was potentially bigger. I guess the 'splash it to everyone' is the attempt at that part?
Uh, wow - I think you broke the upload on this one.
I do like the cleanliness of a creature that just has a P/T of "4", but... yeah.
Shroud got removed because lots of people already misplayed it as hexproof though. I fear you're fighting against human nature here instead of embracing it.
Also... wow, you've got fatter creatures in blue than in green!

yeah, didn't see that, should be a 4/5 ^^
Hexproof is also viable, of course, we just though because of the Auras a hexproof creature could be abused.
Gonna make it a 4/4 then since hexproof is just better than shroud.

good catch, should not be removal.
Might change it to hate on non-vanillas.

I guess you just dig for a card?

What cycle do you mean? This is just another Aura with a bit of a twist, granted there are 2 sacrifice Aurae, but that's it.

It's for flyers archetype.
Against LD, creature removal and to reuse a landdrop for landfall.
Yeah, gonna make this a 1/2 flyer for that gets +2/+0 if you got Primeval.

Oh, I take it back - you DO have something for that 1/1 to feed on. If the opponent is brain dead enough to do it :)
This is kinda really just a sorcery. Why not make it be one?

Mmm, it's a sea serpent indeed. Nice call-back. Shame you can't really give it islandhome too.
