Is an "StC equivalent" a functional reprint with appropriate flavor and Oracle update, or is it a riff on an existing card?

Space: The Convergence is a fictional alternate history, where Magic: The Gathering had very similar mechanics, but was themed around space combat instead of wizard battles.

Several people have designed Space: The Convergence sets, but here there are two specific related challenges:

Challenge # 057a

Get a random magic card from: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?action=random

Write a Space: The Convergence version of it. If it's boring (eg. vanilla creature, or just has a keyword which already has a standard S:TC equivalent and you can't think of a good name for it), roll again.

I assume by default people will use existing keyword equivalents (eg. vigilance->stabilise, trample->overpower, etc), but feel free to make a different conversion than the "standard" if you think yours is interesting or better in some way.

The cards should usually be mechanically equivalent, but feel free to make small mechanical changes if it seems better (eg. changing creature types).

Challenge # 057b

Design a card for Space: The Convergence that for some reason wouldn't normally be printed in normal magic: eg. the flavour is gun-centric, there's a space-themed mechanic which has no obvious magic-themed equivalent, etc.

@Dude: Sorry, still typing details :) The intent is a functional reprint, but mild variations are also welcome.

I knew that was going to happen. For reference, there exists a cardset that began to explore Space. It has a nice glossary. Space: The Convergence

LOL. Yeah, I just knew someone was going to see the card before the explanation and be puzzled. If I was assiduous I'd type the text in advance and then paste it in so there was less of a gap :)

Tweaked card: Defensive Position.

Original card: 17-X Advance Scout.

57a: The Enemy's Gate is Down

Man I lucked out. 57b to come.

Created Misappropriation and Enter Cyberspace. Had a little discussion on the latter as to whether 57' is actually possible at all.

Added Agricultural Evolution, having read Alex's comments on the challenge being impossible. I think he's both right and wrong. That's how I roll.

I don't like my initial submission, so here's a new one: Inevitable March of Progress.
