Does this being an enchantment break the cycle? If necessary I think switching it to a creature would be a doable transition.
Are you meant to be the controller of all things? Also, is the card Throne of Command or Seat of Command?
I suppose there's nothing wrong in calling this "The Seat of Command". Magic probably has too many thrones as it is.
I thought of that, too, when I saw this card.
ISTR there was a GDS question something like: Giant Growth, Lightning Bolt, Healing Salve, Last Gasp. Which one of these couldn't be made rare just by changing numbers? Answer: Last Gasp, because no matter how high the numbers go, it's just "kill target creature".
I can't seem to find a name either, just "seat" The gunner's seat, usually.
Also, is there a word for "The seat you use when firing a gigantic gun"? I tried looking up anti-aircraft guns in Wikipedia, but got too dizzy with the details...
Alex: Yeah, I was thinking more of posting nearly-valid things like your UU RR BB cycle, that I'm generally interested to see, but don't quite fit the challenge, and someone might be able to finish even if they probably can't. I agree it can be a problem if people post half-finished ideas that could be finished, although I think it should be ok to post a suggestion if it's understood that it's fine for someone else to make it concrete, and that they were probably thinking the same thing, possibly after waiting a day or something.
Re: UU. Draw a card. I didn't mean it needed to be stronger, I just thought that UU draw 2 and BB discard 2 might be a tad too good, although I agree they'll probably be made eventually, and I thought a small rider (lose/gain 1 life or something) might make them more of a cycle. But I think I'm probably wrong, I think the simplicity of the original suggestion should win out (although I like jmg's suggestions too)
Yeah, I agree it could be cheaper. In fact, maybe the whole cycle could be brought down in cost to keep it symmetric, U could definitely be cheaper and people already suggested it for W and B.
Good points. I think this is still playable as is, but is still expensive. I think I'd rather remove the restriction, so the costs still line up 3,4,5,6 across the cycle, but then I'm not sure how I'd balance the targetting restrictions across the cycle: is it ok for B and U to have no restriction and G and W be attacking and defending?
I was very tempted to try and make the costs form a fibonnaci series ending it 13, but I didn't think the green one should cost 8 :)
Thank you. And LOL, yes, UEOT. Although I suppose it probably doesn't make much difference, since you're probably going to use this when it hopefully finishes the game :)
For Challenge # 028.
Added Telescoping Homunuculus, Seat of Command and Tyrranax Cannon to the mix. The plan is to assemble a gigantic cannon made out of various creatures, point it at your opponent and fire. I wasn't sure if 'collect me' technically made up a cycle, so I tightened the cycle by giving each creature a "Whenever this creature becomes tapped" ability, which plays into the fact that you tap them all to fire the cannon.
For Challenge # 028. It isn't very often that reminder text appears on an uncommon for Regenerate. I'm hoping that it works as a wink to the player controlling the Throne that regeneration taps the creature.
For Challenge # 028.
Hey, hey. Nice end to the cycle.
I agree with pulling down the cost. If you compare it to Rend Flesh or Chill to the Bone, it's much too expensive. Granted, Remove Flesh is probably too good to compare anything to, but this is supposed to be a rare. Condemn infers that this might cost
...
It could probably cost
. Righteousness can sometimes table in a draft.
Ha! Not to remove good ideas from the table, but you started it Alex. If you really wanted to keep that cycle, you could just increase the number of times you use the number two for each rarity. So for example:

Sorcery
Common
Draw two cards.

Sorcery
Uncommon
Draw two cards, discard two cards, then deal two damage to target creature or player.

Sorcery
Rare
As an additional cost to cast ~, sacrifice two creatures and lose two life.
Target player sacrifices two creatures and discards two cards.
Well done, but I got to admit, this card feels more like Giles than Buffy, what with the equipping his team to take down the vampires. Having said that, I'm not sure what ability would express "Buffiness". Teen Angst?
The Goatnapper reference almost makes me want this to hunt a very absurd creature type... like goats, I guess. Obviously, if we're to keep the "Buffy" theme, though, vampires it is.
