Unless it's a commander, then it can come back from there. Or an emblem, in which case it stays there but has an effect.
And I could still wish for this from outside the game completely :)
ROFL! Yeah, they probably shouldn't print that, but the command zone works as a "Really freaking remove it from the game forever" zone :)
Put it in the Command Zone?
"Really freaking remove it from the game forever" You know you need it. (Although it's still a sorcery you can search for the first time, and annoying enough.)
Mmmm. This is the kind of design that demonstrates why Mirror of Fate / Riftsweeper are a bad idea. This would actually be pretty fair if it weren't for cards that can get it back from exile.
The kind of girl that, when playing Ladies' Knight, has no compunction of whipping her shirt up quick to prove that, yes, indeed, she is officially wearing women's clothing and not just a T-Shirt and Jeans. Attack for two.
I'd never thought how well the psychographic names match to people I know. I know lots of people who love being Johnny, and that seems fairly appropriate. Timmy is ok. Male tournament players I know don't really feel like Spike, but that just evokes such a mental image of an idealised tournament player (the sort of over-the-top pokeplayer), that I never questioned it. So Spike doesn't seem very appropriate for female tournament players, but then, it didn't for men either :) In both cases the punk-rock image seems about right, even though it doesn't match the reality :)
Huh, you're right. Although I suppose Richard may be relating the anecdote at a later time...
I did seriously consider setting myself up to be able to use Ladies' Knight in my second Unhinged draft, but chickened out.
The kind of girls who'll play Ladies' Knight? :)
(Which I've only just noticed has mispunctuated flavour text. Don't mind me.)
I find it funny that when Spike becomes female, she immediately become punk-rock in my head. Like, very over the top.
Why that happens, I have no idea... especially since I know a few female Spikes. They, though... often aren't afraid to let their gender help them win games... they are Spikes after all. Nothing crazy... just things like looking very shocked that you hit a girl, for example. That's your fault if you fail to recognize that you're falling for a stereo-type... or, at least, that's what a Spike thinks. Still, I'd have a hard time imagining calling them 'Spike', since they don't play the part of the bully and their competitiveness is hidden behind a demure of 'I'm going to let you believe I'm just a girl'. Different kind of bully, I suppose. Mean Girls style bully. Hmm...
I certainly have no problem with "Spike" as a female (nick)name.
You're right, that is quite similar, though I'd not thought of it that way. It may have been indirectly inspired by :)
Tammy and Jenny work so well, but Spike seems weird... not that I can think of a girl version of Spike.
Thanks. Yeah, I thought Spike was funny because of Spike in Terry Pratchett, and possibly elsewhere, and just because it's obviously a nickname, and I liked the symmetry of having one name be androgonous, but it's less obviously sensible :)
This remindes me of Noble Aspirant, which I also made for Challenge # 044.
On the gender-switched names: Tammy and Jenny work so well, but Spike seems weird... not that I can think of a girl version of Spike.
Thank you!
Also, is that gender-switched names for the player archetypes I see?
Yeah :) I'm not sure if switching back and forth is too ostentatious, but I decided I couldn't stand to keep using male archtypes only, and the names "Tammy, Jenny and Spike" just seemed perfect :)
Nice idea. Both the card and the proposal to move temporary shapeshifting to red.
Also, is that gender-switched names for the player archetypes I see?
I created this thinking about Challenge # 044. It was originally going to be a 1CMC hybrid, but decided 2CMC was probably better.
I came up with this design thinking about Challenge # 044, but decided that Tammy would prefer a simple but awesome sliver, and this was more Jenny/Spike.
I thought about a 2/2 version, but it would probably have to cost 3 and I didn't want that.
I wonder, if copy spell effects and temporary gain control effects can be red, should temporary shapeshifting be red too? Or this could be UR. But I decided this was more iconic as simply U.
Eh, the comments are probably right, so I moved it out of the design challenge into a different set.
I do like it, but it is tricky. It doesn't seem so long ago that Boros Swiftblade became an auto 4x in zoo decks, and put them on the map. You obviously don't play Swiftblades because they're good blockers. But, you know, maybe it's fine? I'd like to see it in action at least.
You know, I would think that red would get this card and white would get a blocking version.
Yeah, I think that it being a vanilla 1/1 when blocking makes it alright, but it's still a very strong aggro creature... put a sword on this and watch out :)
Yeah, you're probably right about that. :)
