Yeah. I thought it was cute.
? So that the magic burns through the snow?
ChrisHowlett: [16:26] Strange side-effect of using Sublime Text to both write Multidraft and the Reus cheat sheet (on hiatus, as I don't really play Reus): I start typing "Torment", and Sublime suggests that I might mean "Tortoise"
I know, but the wording got my intent across and I wanted to pop it out before bed.
Eenteresting.
I think there are rules difficulties with "play an additional basic land". See the unpleasant Oracle wording to Gaea's Touch, compared to other effects like Summer Bloom.
Typo from ipad, I assume.
This also interacts with +1/+! counters, by the way, with the current wording.
Hm, how come they haven't reprinted Necrologia in any of the EDH precons?
And for just 17 life, if you hardcast Phyrarion at full cost and then go all Phyrexian for this, I guess it's like a bad Necrologia?
As a separate side note, spending BBBB for 'just a 5/5 intimidate' is pretty good. It's incredibly good, however, if you happen to block a five power creature with infect. It's like you smashed in a quick Promise of Power in the trade.
I'm not sure how often you can reliably expect to get enough -1/-1 counters on a creature like this for it to matter. But New Phyrexia and Eventide would sure like to give it a try. At the very least, this makes a good creature to have around when you're tossing out the Incremental Blights.
Hmm. So ignoring Norn's Devoted for a moment:
The -1/-1 counters help avoid it being too aggressive early on. For typical aggro you probably want to cast it as a two-drop 3/3 intimidate; or I could see some aggro decks that would cast it as a one-drop 2/2.
It's a better chump blocker the more life you invest into it early on, but that comes with an increased risk of losing that investment if it gets bounced or exiled.
Pretty interesting. Clearly strong, but I don't think it's worryingly overpowered on its own.
Norn's Devoted breaks most other pure-Phyrexian-mana creatures, but I think that's a problem with Norn's Devoted, not with this card.
I can't decide whether this is OP or craptastic.
See Norn's Devoted.
I suppose Φ can be feasibly substituted for it, anyway.
Sadly not... I never uploaded it, and never finished implementing Allow Custom Symbols either.
See Norn's Devoted.
Alex, is there a way to make the "plain" Phyrexia symbol, as on Rage Extractor?
First strike + lifelink --> Another +1/+1 and vigilance... Lifelink seemed a dangerous combo with phyrexian mana.
This is for a design challenge to make cards that only use Phyrexia mana. I find the concept dangerous, but I feel the need to meet the challenge.
I'd probably say after the first. Cf Pontiff of Blight, Cavalry Master, etc.
So two of these on turn 1 are both 2/2s? Nice opening, though not especially reliable. However, if there are any other creatures with only Phyrexian mana in the cost, this becomes a lot more dangerous. It's a bit of restrictive design in that way.
Where should devotion reminder text go? After the second condition?
I hit the enter button on my phone too early...
