Huh, this and Raynor are the only gold cards in the Terran deck?
I think it's fine. Remember these are "duel decks" not intended to come out of boosters, so rarity doesn't mean quite the same thing (though it's not irrelevant either).
You do get a very brief look at the top card, yes.
Then you use a bit of paper, or some dice...
Maybe. Now imagine you control 3 of these. And you're in control, and resetting the numbers every turn.
Nah, Wizards are okay with occasional "Choose a blah" effects. See Hall of Triumph, Iona, Shield of Emeria, Lurebound Scarecrow, Adaptive Automaton, Curse of Wizardry, Cavern of Souls, Realmwright, Riders of Gavony, Xenograft... as well as things like Stigma Lasher. Choosing repeatedly is rarer, but seen on the recently printed Mystic Barrier.
All colours get to splash trample occasionally, at rare or occasionally uncommon. And trample in the set is meant to represent splash damage... (though Siege Tank doesn't have it.)
Also why is the exile face down???
Being able to cast any card from exile kinda removes the point of the exile zone, turning it into a secondary graveyard. Limit the emblem a tiny bit. eg: Exile all other nonland permanents. You gain an emblem with "you may cast cards exiled by Zeratul, Nezarim Prelate."
This also has the fun effect of being able to cast your opponent's stuff if able.
Also remember that "threat of activation" is a powerful thing.
Don't underestimate the power of flash gray Ogre, even if it dies EOT.
Making this an instant while removing the "don't untap" clause will make this nearly the same but fit far nicer into the color pie.
Trample feels very off in these colors. What about Vigilance? Means it is weaker to chump blockers but is a crazy blocker.
says this is common but the render has an uncommon symbol
This provides a excellence card advantage for a common a lot of the time. I recommend that you make it 1BB to mimic Liliana's Specter.
Such flavor!
have you considered +3/+3 at sorcery speed for a bit of added tension?
This wording is still pretty confusing, especially for a common.
typo: Missing the word 'equal'.
memory effect issues.
How about replacing the whole thing with:
: "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay
and sacrifice Widow Mine. If you do, Widow Mine deals 4 damage to target creature."
Still memory effect, but now it's at least limited to one full turn cycle. That's still a lot, but definitely more managable than 'indefinite'.
Quick note: Don't be tempted to make this an instant, it's totally broken as an instant.
This card does not work in the rules framework. It triggers upon attacking, but there's not such thing as 'being blocked' at that point.
How about:
: Hydralisk gets +1/+0 until end of turn. Activate this ability only once a turn and only if you control an unblocked creature.
That does work in the rules.
is a bit weird, but it happens; the last printed card to get it is Haunted Plate Mail.
Reminder text needs to mention equipping (unless the aim is: There is no equipment in this set, so, not necessary because it's self contained). If you're going to add reminder text it needs to be nearly complete, or it's just going to be misleading.
Love the design, though.
comparing to the rest of the set, unless this is specifically designed to be underwhelming, I'd just cost one of the two mana costs at just
. In practice you're activating this to trade it, with vanishingly small upside of cashing it in as the world's tiniest lava axe. That's not worth it for a 2 mana 1/1.
This seems really weird and never good in practice.
If I want to intentionally bounce my own stuff for triggers and such, drawing cards is not useful. If I want to draw cards, having to bounce my board is not useful; even bouncing lands is not a good idea because I'll be needing those to toss all those cards I draw back on the board. If I just use this as a value play to bounce something that would otherwise end up dead, it's crazy expensive. Most likely it'll just be a cantrip so I guess I could pay 4 for 'bounce one of your dudes, draw', which is really anemic, or I guess I could pay 5 to toss a land into the mix and draw evne more cards, but then immediately regret bouncing a land.
This probably isn't really blue, but what happens if you replace 'draw x cards' with 'at the beginning of your next main phase, add X mana in any combination of colours to your mana pool'?
Now I can bounce my team in response to a sweeper or some such if I have mana up (still an issue, but possible), then next turn unload almost all of them right back onto the board. You can probably cut the cost by a point too for this.
