Mythic -> rare

Ultralisks deals more damage to buildings right? Couldn't it maybe get increased power and toughness if not being blocked?

Cooould do. I don't think it needs it though. You don't need to reflect every single aspect of a unit on the card. Ultralisk has splash damage against melee units, but should we reflect that?

I reckon "You there, you're forced to block it" is a pretty good implementation of splash damage.

Actually trample is splash damage. :) (See Archon ). The others are just "this is a big thing that soaks up a lot of damage, and needs to get into combat as much as possible." Mechanically, it clears away blockers so the guys who need to get past unblocked can get through.

previously: Trample // ~ attacks each turn if able. // {g}: Target creature blocks ~ this turn if able.

Big fat, with bonus damage to buildings.

Alex: playtested a fight version, this works. Note that all the top-level creatures (((Mothership))), Carrier, Battlecruiser, Thor, Ultralisk and Brood Lord have ETB abilities. This is both to make them more powerful, and to make them poor targets for Force Field and Vortex. By end-game, Protoss should have controlled the board with its powerful creatures, or lose.

Perviously: Trample // When ~ enters the battlefield, you may have it fight up two target creatures. (Each of those creatures deals damage equal to its power to ~ and vice versa.)

Gave him reslience to (((Mind Control))), both for gameplay reasons (biggest Zerg creature ,feels bad when controlled) and flavor reasons - See Frenzied

That's pretty cool and interesting too, and feels at least moderately flavourful.

Reminder text needs to mention equipping (unless the aim is: There is no equipment in this set, so, not necessary because it's self contained). If you're going to add reminder text it needs to be nearly complete, or it's just going to be misleading.

Love the design, though.

Thank you. It's a bit of both - for purposes of this deck, there are no equipment, so I didn't feel the need to put the reminder text. But also, I left out "can't be equipped" and "can't be blocked" because noncreatures really can't block, and if I'm not mistaken* I know that when a creature that's an equipment equips something, it stops being a creature.

  • Protection is a really bad, confusing, and inelegant ability.
  • Haven't had the chance to draw this yet so ability might be too strong.

Requesting for feedback for this ability. Does this work? It's slightly different than the usual. If a Rhox is blocked by a 2/2 and a 1/1, it can either kill the 2/2, kill the 1/1, or damage the player. Here, the ultralisk can kill the 2/2, skip the 1/1, and deal 3 damage to a player. Is it worth the complexity?

Moving away from protection is an entirely commendable aim.

This looks okay - like the superest form of supertrample yet. Rhox can choose to either a) kill the 2/2 and the 1/1, or b) hit the player. This lets you divide the 6 damage pretty much any way you choose. Not sure if the complexity is worth it over just normal trample though. Are the other factions going to be blocking on 0/6s much?

Alex: Yep, this is gonna be in combat a lot. since it has hexproof there's really no killing this other than by combat damage, so I'm thinking of an ability that synergizes with the Ravage keyword. see: Hydralisk, (((Contaminate))) The image of an Ultralisk barreling through blockers without a damn is really flavorful.

But there's really nothing wrong with normal supertrample, and we might just be trying again to be cute for the hell of it. shrug.

This also lets it damage you when it blocks. Which is... very rarely going to be useful. But hey; it's there. Maybe the opponent has a creature that does bad things if it is unblocked and worse things if it dies?

Vitenka: Wahahahahaha yeah you're right that's actually hilarious. I'll change the wording, that shouldn't happen. Hahaha. Might just stick with supertrample.

6/6 -> 6/5. "you may have it assign any amount of its combat damage to defending player" -> supertrample

6/5 -> 6/4. It may look weak but in this deck it;s still ridiculously powreful.
