That's likely a better idea. The 0 CMC cost creatures are probably less of an issue than Graft, Modular, and Pentavus style creatures.
Why not go by CMC? Then the 0/0 cheats don't happen.
I chose it because of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Worldspine Wurm.
15 sounds like a really random number, especially since there are several 0/0 creatures like Pentavus that don't count towrd that limit at all.
Increased ultimate from 8 to 10.
Playtested with Jon. She reaches her ultimate really fast, and may need to cost more.
Oh, I see, it's rather tighter than I realised. OK, that's probably fine then.
Dude, I did think last night that I would rather use shroud, but Wizards has phased it out and I try to stick by their design standards.
Jmgariepy, I looked at Vines of Vastwood last night, too. I considered a variant of that that said "Target creature or creature spell can't be the target..." etc.
As an alternative, the wording on Vines of Vastwood gives hexproof to your stuff while countering your opponents auras and Giant Growths.
Although it counters anything an opponent controls targeting something you control, it doesn't do anything to spells or abilities that they use on their own stuff. If that's on purpose, you should probably change the wording to match Sheltering Word to prevent confusion. Otherwise, hexproof isn't appropriate. This is one case where shroud is a better mechanic.
This is the most likely green "counterspell."
"You've fallen in an error many set designers fall at the beginning: you made an insular set that makes sense and it's balanced on its own but which cards will break any other environment where they can be played or be totally irrelevant. Some of those cards will become modern and even legacy staples while the more thematic ones will not be able to mesh well with the other set in standard."
I received this comment on my set today. Sigh.
For reference, the cycle is currently Sunwall Healer, Scorchwood Robber, Chasm Guard, and this.
That's true. I might remove the protection and just leave these opposed in abilities, since I think I'll make counters a minor theme of the set.
I wonder what I might do to convey the slightly different color relationships.
Hmm. I'm not sure that'll particularly come across, because not all colour hosers are in fully paired cycles.
I think my point in showing enemies is to point out that each color now only has one, rather than two.
...If you want to show the enemy colour pairs are slightly different, then I don't see why you'd pick to focus on the two enmities, which are after all still enmities in five-colour Magic land. Green and black are already enemies. AFAICT the only change to colour relationships is that white and black are now allies.
Competing with Allfather's Will as a possible green counterspell. I definitely like this better right now, if a green counterspell happens at all.
This seems weak at only one life, but possibly too strong at two.
I wanted to make some sort of cycle to show that, with blue missing, the enemy color pairs are slightly different. White and Red are enemies, and Green and Black are enemies. The pentagram becomes a square.
I also see blue as being the ally color to each other color.
