deactivate :( there's just not the creature-token-making support in the set for it.
And yes, it's definitely very wordy for a common: I'm using up 1.5 red flags each on “Perfect Day For Fun” and this. But I think it's mechanically simple, just wordy.
move to common. UB is super stuffed. this is a highly plot-relevant song. mechanically, though, it's comparable to “Perfect Day For Fun” does, and mirrors it nicely.
deactivate: making room for “Welcome to the Show” at common
Is it? It lets you use your creature kill spells on some super-powerful artifact, I guess?
deactivate. it's fighting for the same space as Rainbooms’ Tour Bus
better art
deactivate. there's too many rare vehicles, and very few gold creatures below rare, making this almost unblockable if you can crew it
Hmm. Most of the Equipment in the set is legendary. That means this bombos with the plan of using it to copy an Equipment of your own that's on the battlefield.
This does still work well to copy the opponent's Equipment (either intact, or destroyed/milled), and as a backup of your best Equipment when it gets destroyed. And it is a nifty design. Still might need to cut it though - I have to remove 6 of my current artifact rares.
It's sort of hard to call "Put some land into your deck" a build-around; even if technically it is.
Oh, ugh. This is actually a sneaky removal spell, isn't it.
There are five common noncreature artifacts, which this will happily turn into 4/4s. And it works on your basic lands too. It's more of a generally reasonable pick that has bonus synergy if you get one of the equipment.
Depending on how much I want to support the rest of the Equipment theme (for Faerie Bootmother, Reserve Rack, Diamond-Gang Haulers and Glamorize) I might add back in a bunch of common and uncommon Equipment I pre-emptively cut. Golden Hammer even works with Piecake Eating. ("Equipped creature gets +3/+0." and "Whenever equipped creature deals damage to a creature, create a Treasure token.")
Well it's not usually a functional change; just a templating fix that happens to interact nicely with this build-around.
(Though a build-around without much support at common)
deactivate
deactivate. sorry, Flash... you're a great guy and a great card, but you can't compete with Phoenix Ascension. also it'd be pretty odd to have you be a named legendary creature when most of the protagonists aren't
So you're suggesting replacing
> As long as Amulet of Kindness is attached, white spells you cast cost
less to cast.
with
> Equipped creature has "White spells you cast cost
less to cast."
Hmm. It is actually fewer words. (Though it's probably a little more confusing.) It's tempting. I really don't want to gratuitously make functional edits to these cards though, as the idea was to build a set out of Fan's card designs, not to have something 'inspired by' Fan's cards.
I'd say go ahead and edit the amulets so they grant the discounting to the thing they are equipped to.
Very unfortunately, this sortof doesn't work ideally with most of the Equipments in the set, specifically the cycle of legendary Amulets.
It's a bit of an anticombo, enough that if I were designing or editing these cards, I'd change them somehow, or push this off to a different set. I don't want to push this off to another set though, because
is one of the few gold colour-pairs that isn't over-stuffed with candidates. Do I keep this as it is?
Other cards playing into the Equipment theme:
I like this card a lot. I really want to include it, as it'd seem very strange to not include the villain of the first Equestria Girls movie. That puts some requirements on the set to include legendary equipment, but pleasingly the candidates for the set include 7 legendary equipment representing the girls' magical Amulets, which I'm planning to split across rarities: Amulet of Kindness, Amulet of Generosity, Amulet of Laughter, Amulet of Loyalty, Amulet of Honesty at uncommon, and Amulet of Magic and Amulet of Empathy at rare. That lot basically come as a group of 7. (Obviously the actual Tiara of Magic that Sunset stole isn't in this set as it belongs to Equestria, not Equestria Girls.) There is another triplet of legendary equipment I could use, from FOME's Movie Magic post:
Staff of Altoriosa 2
Legendary Artifact — Equipment
Artifacts you control named Arrow of Altoriosa, Staff of Altoriosa, and Sword of Altoriosa have hexproof.
Equipped creature has hexproof.
Alone, the Altoriosa relics are potent. Together, they are unstoppable.
Equip 1
Arrow of Altoriosa 3
Legendary Artifact — Equipment
Whenever equipped creature attacks, Arrow of Altoriosa deals 1 damage to each creature defending player controls.
If you control artifacts named Staff of Altoriosa and Sword of Altoriosa, Arrow of Altoriosa has deathtouch.
Equip 2
Sword of Altoriosa 4
Legendary Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature gets +3/+0 for each artifact you control named Arrow of Altoriosa, Staff of Altoriosa, or Sword of Altoriosa.
Whenever equipped creature attacks or blocks, if it has power 6 or greater, it gains first strike until end of turn.
Equip 3
I'm inclined towards the Amulets as they're a lot more plot-relevant than the Altoriosatron. They do need a bit more space in the set, mainly at uncommon which is certainly tight. But I wouldn't really be happy putting this Sunset Shimmer in a set with a total of 3 legendary Equipment in it.
deactivate. uncommon is tight, and the gameplay here might not be good
Given the flavour text, I believe this card is aware of that fact :)
deactivate. not doing anything for the set
deactivate. sad to lose the pun, but it's redundant with Amulet of Loyalty
deactivate. somewhat redundant with Amulet of Generosity
deactivate. it's potentially interesting, but not great, and uncommon is pretty tight
deactivate. seems too likely to just instant-win, and green has way took many -1/+1 counters already
deactivate. too many green 3-mana creatures, too close to Scavenging Raccoon, and I think this might not have great gameplay
deactivate. pity, but there's too much removal in blue, and Catch Red-Handed and Siren-Swayed are better
deactivate. I like it, but it's too close to “Perfect Day For Fun” which is lower rarity
