Welcome to Friendship Is Card Games!
FanOfMostEverything is a prolific custom card designer. Every movie, episode, or comic he sees, he creates a whole bunch of custom card designs for. But... he's never put them into a set.
AlexTFish has decided to start creating cardsets of the cards designed by FanOfMostEverything: not designing any new cards but taking selections from Fan's cards balanced for limited and constructed play. We're starting with... Equestria Girls!
These cards are collected from FanOfMostEverything's Equestria Girls card blogs. So, if you play with this set, what will you experience?
Songs and Bands
Equestria Girls is a world driven by musical numbers just as much as Equestria is. But Equestria Girls has a bit more focus on the characters who make the music. So as well as a bevy of Song enchantments which accumulate verse counters over time, Equestria Girls has a lot of Band creatures that give you bonus effects when you sacrifice a Song.
, Sacrifice “Shake Your Tail”: Choose up to X target creatures, where X is the number of verse counters on "Shake Your Tail". You may tap or untap each of those creatures.
, Sacrifice “The Midnight in Me”: You draw X cards and lose X life, where X is the number of verse counters on “The Midnight in Me”.
, Sacrifice “Awesome As I Wanna Be”: Target creature gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of verse counters on “Awesome As I Wanna Be”. If X isn't 0, that creature gains double strike until end of turn.
, Sacrifice “Run to Break Free”: Put up to X creature cards from your hand onto the battlefield, where X is the number of verse counters on “Run to Break Free”. They gain haste. Sacrifice them at the beginning of the next end step.
, Sacrifice “Welcome to the Show”: Target opponent reveals the top X cards of his or her library, where X is the number of verse counters on "Welcome to the Show". You may cast a nonland card with converted mana cost X or less from among them without paying its mana cost. Put the rest into their owner's graveyard.
Finale — Whenever you sacrifice a Song, untap Marching Band.
The second Equestria Girls movie Rainbow Rocks is all about a Battle of the Bands. So the protagonists and antagonists of that movie are represented by powerful Band creature cards!
Whenever The Rainbooms deals combat damage to a player, return target Song card from your graveyard to your hand.
Finale — Whenever you sacrifice a Song, you may search your library for a Song card, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.
Double-Faced Cards
When humans get hold of Equestrian magic, it often leads to a startling transformation. What better way to reflect that than the transform mechanic? Most of the other antagonists are represented by double-faced cards with a mini-quest challenge to transform them to their powerful dark sides.
Sacrifice another creature: Sunset Shimmer gains protection from the color of your choice until end of turn.
: Transform Sunset. Activate this ability only if a legendary Equipment is attached to Sunset.
Whenever Sunset, Demonic Despot attacks, gain control of target creature defending player controls until end of turn. Tap that creature. It is now attacking that player.
, Sacrifice another creature with power X: Sunset deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker.
: Counter target spell that targets Twilight. Put a study counter on Twilight.
: If there are twelve or more study counters on Twilight, remove all of them and transform it.
Flying, hexproof
At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.
, Discard a card: Exile target nonenchantment permanent.
When the fourth spell of a turn is cast, transform Gloriosa, Who Has This.
Whenever a nontoken permanent enters the battlefield under your control, draw a card.
: Transform Delusional Usher. Activate this ability only if there are seven or more cards in exile.
Juniper Monstar’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in exile.
Whenever Juniper becomes blocked, each creature blocking it has base power and toughness 1/1 until end of turn. Prevent all combat damage Juniper would deal to those creatures this turn.
Multicolour
Rainbows and lasers are a bit of a recurring theme in Equestria Girls, and why not represent those by Magic's rainbow of colours? The Converge mechanic shows up several times, and other cards will reward you for having multiple colours as well.

Whenever you cast a multicolored spell, each opponent loses 1 life.

Some artifacts or enchantments have the Fabulosity ability. These cards have some benefit as soon as they enter the battlefield, but you can reveal their true beauty by additionally paying some extra mana later to unleash their full effect.
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control.

Heroic
Fan didn't design many cards with the Heroic mechanic, but there's a few with either Heroic or a related power, that'll reward you for picking up some spells that target your own creatures. And there's plenty of beneficial pump spells, Auras, or removal that targets your own creatures as well as opponents'.
Whenever you cast a spell that targets one or more creatures you control, draw a card.
—Twilight Sparkle

When you sacrifice Ordeal of Clover, you may cast an instant or sorcery card from your hand or graveyard without paying its mana cost. If a card cast this way would be put into a graveyard this turn, exile it.
Investigate. (Create a colorless Clue artifact token with “, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.”)
Proliferate and +1/+1 Counters
You know what works well with songs accumulating verse counters? Adding extra counters! And plenty of Songs, Bands and other cards will distribute +1/+1 counters among your creatures, which are great to proliferate as well. You'll even have the occasional opportunity to put -1/-1 counters on opponents' creatures too.
: Triple Scooper gains lifelink until end of turn.
—Pinkie Pie
, : Choose a counter on target permanent. Put another of those counters on it.
—Trixie Lulamoon

Each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it has menace. (It can’t be blocked except by two or more creatures.)
Enchanted creature has evolve. (Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if that creature has greater power or toughness than this creature, put a +1/+1 on this creature.)
Whenever a +1/+1 counter is placed on enchanted creature, you draw a card.
: Hostile Natives deals 1 damage to target creature with flying.
Mill
Blue and black have a definite mill theme going on. With the right draft pool, you ought to be able to build a powerful blue-black control deck that wins by running the opponent out of cards. Alternatively, you might find you want to use those cards on yourself to enable a Stalking Slime, Addictive Power, Consolatory Feast or Garbage Fumes.
, Sacrifice “Monday Blues”: If “Monday Blues” has a verse counter on it, each opponent reveals cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals X land cards, then puts all cards revealed this way into his or her graveyard, where X is the number of verse counters on “Monday Blues”.
• Target player discards a card.
• Target player puts the top four cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.

Externalized Regret’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your opponents’ graveyards.
Artifact tokens and creature tokens
Food, clues, and treasure! All fine plot ingredients. Also all fun artifact tokens you can make with this set!
, : Scry 2. If Decorated Detector is fabulous, create a colorless Treasure artifact token with “, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.”
, Sacrifice X Treasures: Return target creature card with converted mana cost X or less from a graveyard to the battlefield.

Whenever an opponent becomes the monarch, investigate. (Create a colorless Clue artifact token with “, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.”)
, Sacrifice a Clue: Shadow Spade can’t be blocked this turn.
, Sacrifice three Clues: Scry 3, then draw three cards.
“Life is a Runway” or the Professional Welder will help you activate them - though you might want to keep them around to power up your Nerd Chic or help you Throw the Horns. If you're making some of these tokens that are prime for sacrificing, you'll definitely want to pick up a Piecake Eating or two.
And note that although Overwhelmed Petsitter's populate ability can only make copies of a creature token, she will trigger any time you create any token. Get investigating and swell your horde of cute pets! Maybe you'd like to start with the Fecund Patriarch's offspring? Or use Celestia’s Greenhouse or Nest Crown to get your initial creature token and the populate ability both at once.
And much more!
This is unashamedly a Modern Masters-style anthology product for experienced players. And FanOfMostEverything does love to make use of existing mechanics in his cards! So in this set you'll find occasional guest appearances by partner, support, bolster, protection, extort, convoke, affinity, landfall, kicker, buyback, detain, skulk, fateseal, raid, prowl, delve, outlast, retrace, exert, flanking, dethrone, champion, flashback, battalion, kinship, soulbond, wither, a Saga, and the monarch mechanic, amongst others. Don't worry, if you don't instantly remember every mechanic in that list, they all have reminder text. Well, usually.
